------------------------------------------
Remember to consider the whole weekend, not just the race.
------------------------------------------
Step 1 - GP takes place & voting opens
Step 2 - Everybody votes according to these rules:

* You can give a driver either three, two or one point. (Or zero, which is default.)

* You can distribute no more than eight points (but less if you want to).

* You need to vote for at least two drivers.

If I feel you are simply voting for the fav driver each time I'll put you on the blacklist for a while. (I won't be voting myself, to make it fairer) Also not arguing over somebody elses votes or again on the blacklist you go. Posts should be along the lines of:

...3 points: the driver/s you think did the best job during the weekend
...2 points: the next best ones
...1 point: the ones after that

Make it clear which Schumacher you mean, and which driver is Top Drive. Don't use the abbreviation JV, as it can mean both Jacques Villeneuve and Jos Verstappen. And neither one of those is in F1 this year anyway.

Step 3- Voting will close in about a week

Step 4 - I'll add up the total number of votes. This will produce a 'race result'. Should drivers have the same voting score then I will split them by who has had the most Top Votes. If that fails then in reversed race result order.

Step 5 - The drivers will then be awarded championship points on a 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 system.
---------------------------------------------

------------------------------------------
Rate the race
------------------------------------------
Please rate the race from 0-10, using the following guide.

Quality of race
This should be a reflection of how good the race was, not how much you liked the results. Please don't give it a one or two just because driver X failed to win the championship. Think about how much it had your pulse racing and you guessing at what the end result was going to be. Use the guide below to help, and think carefully. Try to compare it not just to the last few races, but all the grand prix you've ever watched. Votes of 9 and 10 should be quite rare.

10 The best race I've ever seen
9 Contender for the best race of the last few seasons
8 Contender for the best race of the season
7 Brilliant race, I was on the edge of my seat for a lot of the race
6 Better than average, more than a few on the edge the seat moments
5 An average race, nothing spectacular but worth watching
4 Below average, too few exciting moments
3 Well, there was one or two moments of interest
2 That was completely predictable
1 I struggled to watch it all the way through
0 I slept through most of it

Satisfaction with the results
Please also rate the race in terms of how satisfied you are with the results. This one
should be based on if driver X wins the championship or not! Also factors such controversy
over DQ's that sour the event should be considered.

10 All the right results, and done with style
9 All the right results, if not in the best manner
8 Mostly the right results
7 Mostly the right results with a bit of luck
6 Some of drivers/teams I liked did well
5 Neither happy nor sad with the results
4 My likes didn't quite manage to do well
3 My likes did quite badly
2 My likes did quite badly and my dislikes did good
1 All the wrong drivers/teams did very well but I'll give them credit for doing it well
0 All the wrong drivers/teams did very well and the right ones did badly

Note: people who are on the Voting Championship blacklist can still participate in Rate the race.

2004 so far:

A weekend with several drivers worth points:

2 points To Michael Schumacher. What can one say other than absolute and total control of the race in every aspect. Good pole and, in race, precise as an atomic clock. Everytime Monty tried to get close, Schumy answered with more speed. And, even with all his victories, he still is happy as can be with the victory.
Same points to Button. Steady, competent, fast when he needs to. The team is starting to putting things together (now that they don't need to deal with some... subjects no more), and Button is the right driver to use this and shine in 2004.

1 point gang : Webber, great qualy. Trulli, showed great control and that he is closer to his teammate than some may believe. Sato, a different strategy that almost paid well. Also show his critics that he deserves the seat. And Coulthard, for the atitude. He knows he is about to loose his place at McLaren, and still drives on his never-changing competent, steady way. Plus, today he was very good at avoiding Alonso atacks.

Too bad there's no place for Massa.

Quality: 6, pity the main guest, the rain, didn't showed up. But Sepang helped to answer some tyres/advantage questions
Satisfaction: 8 YAY, MASSA!

M.Schumacher - 3-A dominant pole, smart and skillful driving when wet, cautious yet having to push to stay ahead of Montoya, controled the race, responded with fast lap times when needed, used the tyres very well.

Button - 2

Webber -1 great quali, but the race is so important, didn't work out for him, otherwise fantastic opportunity he created for himself, the Jaguar race pace remains unknown.

Couthard- 1 difficult to judge his race pace, but quali was better from him, race was smart in that he knew he wasn't getting big points, drove likely with reliability in mind, Kimi was pushing very hard, probabley not the think to do when one has little confidence with the engine, it's 50/50, Couthard called it right, it was a attitude decision making weekend, calm and smoothed, the engine survived.

1-Montoya-Very good race, kept Michael pushing, I just don't know what to make of his qualifying though, it was probabley what cost him the most, and where Michael gained this weekend, as his race pace would of been strong enough to win, it's 50/50 also, near the end like Monza, where he decided to back off and save the car, equally hunting down Michael, may force Michael into pushing his car, reliability attacking etc, it's questionable, because he made a decision to remain 2nd, the bmw engines are made to go the distance, maybe ralf's blow up had a effect, but williams bmw endorce pushing the engine, I can understand DC going easy knowing where Mercedes is at, so it was just a lack lustre end to a strong drive by Montoya.

Quality - 7 early rain gave a challenge to the drivers, Montoya pushing MS was refreshing given albert park's dominance. Bar and Button challenging for podium.
Satisfaction - 9 -mostly everyone deserved the result they got.

3: Best Job: Michael Schumacher , what can you say, I wanted to give 2 points, but reading the voting rules he probably did the best job.

2: Next best job: Jenson Button : Maybe, just maybe a bit less in qualifing, but very good performance.

1: Montoya : Also good, as good as the other two maybe, except possibly for the end of the race

1: Massa : high entertainment value, scoring a point and again ahead of his more experienced an higher rated teammate

1: Trulli Difficult, could have gone to Raikkonen also, or Sato even.

Race Quality: 6 , good race, much closer than Australia, interesting incidents with Panis, Massa, qualifying and the Alonso start footage seen from his car

Race Satisfaction: 8 , would have liked to see Webber finishing in the points for his great qualifying effort and a Raikkonen finish would have been nice.

On drivers

Michael Schumacher - 3
  • Pole sitter with a fantastic "mind blowing" qualifying lap. And today, he yet again controled the whole race with consistency.
Jenson Button - 3
  • first career podium finish. Amazing "BAR"
Montoya - 1
  • strong finish in race day - but what happened to his Williams on Saturday?
Massa - 1
  • Just cut it short: Massa over Fisi, again

3 points - M Schumacher -more or less dominated the weekend from start to finish, killed off the
silly myth of Bridgestones not being able to cope with the heat! :smoking:

2 points - J Button - outstanding race and qualifying, deserved his 1st podium.

1 point - M Webber - great qualifying session, unlucky in the race

1 point - J Montoya - kept Schumacher honest, despite whinging about Ferrari tactics. Someone
tell this plonker he was fighting for position and not lapping Rubens!!

1 point - F Massa - Got Sauber's first point and once again beat his highly rated teammate.

And I'm definately not going to give any points to the drivers who couldn't keep it in the track in qualies or in the race - even if they showed some moments of brilliance (Alonso, Sato, Webber...)
