Second chance to guess who are going to end in the podium. Sometimes I wonder if someone is reading these unneeded intros I wrote :p After all, all people need is to put a guess with MS as first, Rubens or Juan Pablo as second and some originality regarding third position ;) It's just two GPs done and I'm beginning to miss the uncertainity of last years first races, when we let to grow the illusion Ferrari was not dominating anymore :drunk:

Who can forecast what is going to happen in that new track, Bahrain (Bah!, rain?). Apparently some people expect a sort of offroad event a la Dakkar, if this is the case, I suppose Renaults are going to triumph there, because I suppose Briatore would pick out of his magic hat (no, I didn't say "cheating hat" ;) ) a legal/ilegal 4WD system for Truly Alonso (sorry, I mean Trulli and Alonso).

This Bahrain circuit surely is the dream-come-true for some FIA people: it is not just giant sandtraps, it is the whole country a sandtrap. Happily some drivers tell the layout is pretty good, so we mantain the hope we will get a great GP with plenty of action (/wishfulthinking). My pray is for the safety of the Bahraini people and the GP crew, in view of certain baddies who are playing with fireworks lately :(

Last thing, the new proyect of game (bike racing based) is so "warmly" received that a grand total of ... 0 (zero) persons are interested in it  :rotfl: Maybe it is a good thing because probably it would be a bit intense in calculations =:-o ;)

Goodbye and nice weekend for everyone!

Rules:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It consists in guessing the three firsts in F1 races. You do an ordered guess (i.e. MS-JPM-RS) and a score is given according to real podium results. The

scoring system is as explained here:

Suppose you do the guess MS-JPM-RS.

If MS is 1st, 3 points
if MS is 2nd, 2 points
if MS is 3rd, 1 point

If JPM is 1st, 2 points
if JPM is 2nd, 2 points
if JPM is 3rd, 1 point

If RS is 1st, 2nd or 3rd, 1 point

It another driver makes a podium position, it doesn't give any points.

The key for this system is not "gambling" on the exact position but to do a realistic shot at the relative merit of each driver in that GP. For instance, you are not penalized for JPM being first and not 2nd, as the penalty comes by not scoring with MS's first position.

In order to have a reference I will enter two "dummy" players: Bernie and Max (the names were chosen randomly ). Bernie always guesses the firsts three qualifyers, and Max always guesses the firsts three classified in WDC current points table. Can you outscore B&M?

Any guess can be done before one hour before the official first start of the race. We will use the "official" Atlas Forum clock to resolve close entries.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Special case: Missed round

Knowing that there are circunstances that sometimes make not possible to enter each round, and wishing to offer the oppurtunity of a good classification to those who cannot be here every round, each round those who miss that round will get a score determined as follows:

(1)
"Third better score for that round minus three. The resulting score MUST be always between 0 and 2 points, adjusting it as needed"

For example, supposed scores for missing rounds would be:

third best score=3, miss-score=0
third best score=2, miss-score=0
third best score=5, miss-score=2

The rationale of it is reward "misses" depending on the difficulty of the round. I have done calculations about last years results and it works well. Missing rounds are rewarded less than almost every one who made a guess (except some rare cases of disasters), and on the other side, missing rounds are not penalized as harshly as zero.

(2)
"In order to eliminate unneeded calculations, I only will add miss-scores to players who guessed more than half of number of rounds so far (it's to say, with three rounds, those who guessed two times)"

(3)
"In case of a tie in the final classification, the first rule to untying is the player with less miss-scores is above the player with more miss-score."

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tie breaking rules:

In case of tie in final scores, the first rule is "the less amount of miss-scores gets the better classification", second rule is "the best classified in the previous round gets the best classification".

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What is going on with Ralf?

Lots of Ralfs in the guesses  Come on, all of you know something about this GP that I ignore! Let's go, tell me why RS is going to perform in Bahrain. Maybe he is going to swap wifes with JPM? Is BMW thinking in give him the new 1200HP engine? Has Frank menaced him with having to complete another year in the harsh Williams team if he doesn't perform well?

Before I opened this thread, LB sent me his guess. His computer was having a sort of terminal failure (no, it is not a Jordan).

His guess is: MS-JPM-FA
