Can anyone confirm, or otherwise, that British driver Rob Cox -- long-time holder of the outright lap record at Lydden with a Lola-DFZ -- is the same person as the Caterham 'Black Brick' modsports exponent, Rob Cox Allison? I've always assumed it was, but during those single-seater days, never saw him out of the car.

Rob Cox (Allison?) and Lydden Hill

Yes he is. Can't remeber when the -Allison bit disppeared....
There was a Cosworth GA-powered Ralt RH6 in between the Black brick & the Lola, and a fearsome Sierra Thundersaloon (Black Thunder) afterwards.
His cars were (always / nearly always?) sponsored by Design Fireplace Centres.

Thanks for your speedy response, Jeremy.
You set me wondering there for a moment, but yes, some of the programmes and many of the Lotus and Caterham books refer to him -in that period - as Rob Cox-Allison.

Yes, I realised that and editted the post...!
Still can't remember without a trip into the loft for my programmes when he just became Rob Cox.

I'd forgotten about the Sierra, and I don't think I ever saw the Ralt race -
The reason I asked is that I've recently taken over editing and designing the Lotus Seven Club magazine 'Lowflying' and I'd been writing some odds and ends to supplement an account of Club sprinting at Lydden -- and wanted to be extra sure of my facts!
I wonder if Design Fireplaces was his own business?
Cheers.
