Robert,

A quick google search gives results in ETC (mainly 1964 & 65), le Mans, Sebring, Reims 12-hours and several GT-races in the mid-seventies. Also, a Andrea Vianini apperently drove in the 1991 SudAm F3-championship. His son, perhaps?

Came to note as a saloon driver in Argentina, placing second in the 1962 500 Milllas Standard at Buenos Aires with an Alfa Romeo.
Later contested the Turismo Carretera class in an IKA-Chevrolet, and was one of the leading Argentine single-seater drivers in 1967/68, impressing the Europeans in the F3 and F2 Temporadas in that period. About the same time was contesting the Argentine ‘Formula 1’ series with a Brabham-Falcon.
Can't help with his later career, sorry

Andrea Vianini lives today in Buenos Aires, but a serious accident postrated him to a wheelchair since October 4th, 1970. He was racing a Baufer-Chevrolet during a Sport Prototype Championship race at Las Flores circuit, chasing the leader Carlos Ruesch -who later went to race for John Surtees in European Formula 2- and found his way obstructed by a backmarker. The Baufer took the grass, spun, went over the armco barrier and crashed. He never was to walk again, despite dozens of medical treatments.
Of course, the Andrea Vianini who ran in the Sudam F3 C'ship was his son, a nice guy I used to interview. But I think he hasn't the very will to be a successful racing driver.
There is a book on his life, which I have, but I don't remember now the name. If you want more details, I can look for it and translate some.
Indeed he won his class in the 1964 Reims 12 Hours, driv ing his Porsche 904 with fellow Nasif Estefano.

Thanks a lot everybody
From memory, he did good impressions in the 1968 Temporada. I wonder why he didn't get the chance to go to europe ?. Was the Baufer chevy a closed car from TC or was it a look alike european proto from this period ?

... and he took part in the Nürburgring 1000ks in 1964 as well, driving his 904 together with
nasif Estefano. They finished 10th, if i recall it correctly by heart. Quite an achievement on
a track like the Ring for firsttimers.

Look this pictures of the second generation..., (1970/1971)

WARNING: The Berta's cars (Tornado six cilynders) smashed with no mercy to the PORSCHE 908, Ford GT-40, and Alfa Romeo 33's of the Brazilian Drivers Luiz Pereira Bueno, Marivaldo Fernándes, Lian Duarte, Pedro de Lamare.... etc, etc ..

First question: the SP cars were derived from the most advanced Turismo Carretera cars from those years 1967-1968: the tech regs admitted only front engined cars; the only exception was if the original model was rear engined (like the Renault Dauphine, who once compited with his 1-litre engine against the 4-litre cars). Again, for 1969 and 1970, the cars can use 4-liters engines in the front. For 1971, spyder-body, rear-engined cars were permitted but only with 3-liters engines.
That is the answer of the second question. In 1969 and 1970, the cars were due to have a real high minimal height, IIRC, 130 centimeters. That is the explanation for all those psicodelic tops.

The "Can-Am" of the South.. The "Campeonato Argentino de Sport Prototipos"
(Argentine SP Championship).

In the photo, the twin Berta-Tornado, builded by Oreste Berta, was a local design and remarkable effort and perfomance.. Why? ..The Berta cars defeat with no mercy to the Porsche 908 (Pereira), the Lola T-70 (Avallone), Mc Laren M8C (Pairetti), Alfa Romeo 33 (Duarte), and defeat.. everything!

La "Pantera Rosa" (The Pink Panther) was a project of Baufer, engined with a Chevrolet 6 cilynder, 3 carburettors (twin barrels).. and a power of 338 HP.

The driver is Eduardo Pino, in the 1.000 Kms of Buenos Aires.

Here, the Mc Laren M8C property of Carlos Pairetti.
He was buy the car to Alain De Cadenet.., the engine was a Ford 4.2 litres V8 with 4 carburettors (twin barrels)., but never the exotic Mc Laren can defeat to the Berta-Tornado's, engined with a 6 cilynders of only 3 litres..,

If the Berta was so good, it's a shame the team never competed internationally!

Of course! At that time, José Froilán González was heavily involved in argentinian racing. He had a team which ran Chevrolets in Turismo Carretera and Sport Prototipos. And he had a Chevrolet showroom in one of Buenos Aires' best places: below the grandstand of Luna Park stadium, in downtown BA.

Sir Jackie Stewart testing the car Berta LR (first generation), here you can see to Jackie talking with Mr Oreste Berta, the designer and builder of the car.
The photo was taken in the Autodromo Municipal of Buenos Aires, January 1970.

Start of the "1.000 Km de Buenos Aires", January 1970. The BERTA LR in hard battle with the Porsche 917 (Piper), the Alfa Romeo 33 (Stommelen), and the Porsche 908 (Masten Gregory)..

The Berta LR drived by Luis Di Palma (a legend) was a powerful menace for the Porsche 908 (Masten Gregory).. ever, ever the Berta defeat to the Porsche 908(of Europe, or Brazil, or USA).
What shame!

The Baufer-Chevrolet 4.0 litres ex Jorge Cupeiro, was sold to Brazilian driver Pedro De Lamare, after the race "200 Km do Interlagos",
because the brazilians are much impressive by the Argentinians self made cars.,
