This stuff is 1/43rd scale, with working hood straps, real louvers, leaf springs made of individual leaves, etc....

Here is a detail photo of a T55..

That's incredible! A pity though that I would need two pairs of reading glasses to fully appreciate the work.

Talking about world's best car modeller:

-snip-

http://hofstadparkhi...t/ferrari312.rm (Need REALPLAYER to view it!)

3 years to do the drawings!
12 years to make it!

Working V12 engine, Lights, gauges! Look at the way he dips the clutch and changes gear!

I am familiar with that model, and yes it is superb.....but being a modeller myself, I think it is much more difficult to make parts that are proportionally correct dimensionally in 1/43rd scale than in a much larger scale.

Both the Bugatti and Ferrari models are amazing. And the dedication and skill required..... well let me put it this way....I'd never even dream of starting a project like that.

But what blew me away was the fully functional Ferrari 312 model! The sound of the engine is juice in your veins! Thanks for posting that link!

Yeah but . . . everything works, electrics, guages, transmission, everything. If you could get someone small enough, they could turn the key, start the engine and drive it away. That's a lesser achievement?

Check this out http://members.shaw....a_One/index.htm

 While the 312pb is the ultimate, this fella makes the ultimate static models. He is last years winner of Tamiya con. competition. So they sent him to Japan to meet Mr.Tamiya wined and dined him with Kobe beef etc...etc... Plus he is a hell of a nice guy. :)

Attridge's stuff is beautifully done, but it is based on a kit. The work of Dale King and some others is of similar quality.

I don't deny all of these are superb, but the Bugatti models and the Ferrari 312 are built from scratch. The makers did the drawings, the patterns, the molds, the casting, etc.

I'm not saying the working 312 is any lesser an achievment than the 1/43rd Bugattis, but personally I find it much easier to work in larger rather than smaller scales.

You're welcome.

BTW: I would love to see that Ferrari 312 clip (the *.rm is crappy) in better quality - does anybody know where I might get it?
