At the end of the year 1969, Matra decided to install its new engine MS 12 on
a MS 11 of 1968, this engine was foreseen for the MS 120 of 1970. This hybrid MS 11
was tested by Stewart at Albi but he preferred to remain faithful to Cosworth DFV.

Jean-Pierre Beltoise won with it, the hill climb of the Mont Dore during summer
1970. Henri Pescarolo also ran with this car.

Have you other informations on this car and if possible some pics ?

Many thanks.

I may add that this hybrid car currently is ( or at least was when I visited 3 years ago....) on display in the Matra museum in Romorantin.

Unfortunately, it seems that they haven't kept any of the "original" MS11's ( with the old beautiful "wide angle inlet trumpets" engine )

Stewart at Albi 1969, I was there and still remember the noise of the V12!

I thank you to all for your answers and for certain rare photos.

In the middle of the 70's, I had seen this car exposed in a show but I did not
remember it any more very well.

And presumably before Monaco 1969, as the car is running high wings, which were banned after then? Does anyone know when this testing took place?

Why did Tyrell drop Matra for March in 1970?

Because Matra insisted he use the Matra V12 and not the Cosworth DFV.

At the Bugatti circuit (Le Mans) the Matra Ms11/12 was tested by Jackie Stewart (august '69) and J.P. Beltoise (september '69) with the high wing (forbidden four months before).

Because he was already buiding his own chasis.

By the way, I am also in the habit of spelling Tyrrell as Tyrell !

After all these years it certainly was to great advantaje for JYS to stay with Ford. This relationship has given Jackie a lot over the years.
