I was searching the NF bb the other day when I can across a post about 1989 Japan Formula 3000 champion Hitoshi Ogawa. All I know is that he crashed at the first corner at Suzuka in 1992 injuring several photographers and unfortunatly sustianing fatal injuries in the process.

Does anybody have any info on him? Pictures? Anything other than the fact that he died?

1989 - Japanese F3000: Champion
1992 - Sportscars (Toyota TS010): 1 win (Monza) with G.Lees. Killed in a Japanese F3000 race.

Thank you for the info guy's. It seems he was a local boy who had mixed luck in his long career finally winning the championship a few years before his death

Would anybody happen to have any pictures of him in or out of the cockpit?

He was a very good driver, but an underachiever during the first days of his career due to lack of money. But he even tried to sign for F1 teams and was absolutely pivotal to Toyota's WSC structure

I'm sure he was racing in Britain or Europe circa 1989 as I remember him....and yes he had strong ties to Toyota, who even then were rumoured to be entering F1 soon. It was assumed Ogawa would be one of their F1 drivers. Reading of his death was quite saddening.
