Well, atleast to me, it is.

Anyway, I took this picture at the Glen, a few weeks back. As always, I neglected to get any info about the car. I'm wondering about the national colors on the left front fender. There's a great site I stumbled across that shows just about every nation's flag.

http://flagspot.net/flags/

The ones that looked the closest were St. Vincent and the Grenadines and the Soloman Islands.

What do ya'll think?

The car is all red, has twin white stripes running from nose to tail, is numbered 83 and appears to be a Mark II.

'Archie' Urciuoli told me a little about the history of this car when I saw him over that weekend. The car was owned by the Fittipaldi family originally. It does not have a race history (I recall him saying). He found it in rough shape - it had been butchered up and at one time had some very strange engine fitted. Sorry I can't remember the details. When he restored it he learned that the Fittipaldis had originally owned it and they helped him match the original colors as it appeared when they owned it. The colors on the front fender originated with them.

Thanks for the info, Frank and Mike! The colors must be a representation of the Brazilian flag, then.

Summarising the relevant bits from p282 of Ronnie Spain's book:

dispatched 7/10/69 - built for a West German customer but he "defaulted after buying a Porsche"!
Sold from the works though Motor Racing Enterprises to the CAI team in Rio (owned by Sidney Cardoso).
Unraced to 1971, bought by Wilson Fittipaldi who used it as a road car and then stored it.
Adrian Hamilton bought it (via Emerson) on 26/5/82 on behalf of George Stauffer who raced it in '82.

Gordon Jones/John Allen's "Racing history of the GT40" says that it was believed to have raced in Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
