Goodwood 1948

What I have is from Motor Sport and Weguelin's and Moore's books. I decided to buy a Goodwood book by Barker but I bought the wrong one, Motor Racing at Goodwood. The adult version showing everything should be "A record of Motor Racing at Goodwood". I do not feel like buying two books just for this race so I am asking the TNF members who own the latter to fill in for my question marks with the usual generosity.

I suppose that Alessandro Silva must have asked the original question on the thread while researching for what is now Back On Track. He clearly found the answers because the book covers the race in some detail.
The qualifying criteria for the race - over 1,450cc s/c - is unusual to say the least. The main race of the day, the Goodwood Trophy, was for supercharged cars up to 1,500cc; there was no mention of unsupercharged cars. There was no kow-towing to formulae developed by foreigners here. A band of 50cc allowed cars to appear in both races!
The meeting must have been one of the last, if not the very last, to be organised by the Junior Car Club before it became the BARC British Automobile Racing Club, not to be confused with the prewar BARC - Brooklands Automobile Racing Club. When the 1962 British Grand Prix (organised by the BARC) was held at Aintree instead of Silverstone as convention would suggest, it was to celebrate 50 years since the founding of the JCC, not the BARC. I hope I've got that right.

Oh Roger, you spoiled the fun! I was just going to suggest they have a look in "Back on Track"...
