I've just heard the rather shocking news that John 'JohnBoy' Walton, latterly of Minardi, has died as a result of a heart attack he suffered earlier in the week.
He was just 46 years old...

And it looks like the two cars are staying in the shed this morning.
Rough day for them

this is a tragedy, John has been around the F1 paddock for longer than I care to remember. RIP, and my thoughts are with his family.

Who was he? What nationality was he? Does anyone know of his background? He was only 46 so I was taken in by this and am curious of his short but what must have been successful career in F1?

Really awful news - I'm sure we're all thinking of his family and friends, and his partner Louise Goodman, and all his friends up and down the pitlane. There's quite a good resumé of his career here:

Thanks so much for the link! A very colorful career indeed! After reading his history it kind of made me wonder if all the political crap and moving to teams at what seems the wrong time may have had some contributing factor to his demise?? But then again I don't know how healthy a life he led. RIPOriginally posted by bretonbanquet
