Hey guys. I've been looking around on the web for comparisons on racing wheels for the pc. I was just wondering what you guys think is the best wheel for GPL & F1 Challenge (i know they are much different games, but just give me your best idea on the wheel i should get!). I know the MOMO force and Force RS have been discontinued, but is it worth getting one of them used from ebay instead of Microsoft's FF? I bought a wheel for my ps2 a few years ago and its somewhat messed up, so I'm weary of buying a used wheel again. Is the momo force that much better that i should buy a used one? Thanks

Depends on what you define by "best". If you're talking about best in the economical sense, the black Momo Racing is probably the best, it's very good for its price. Be sure you get a newer version, the old one had many bugs.

A year ago I bought a new Microsoft FF wheel for 75 Euro (that's maybe 85 US bucks).

It is satisfactory and after a year and maybe 7500+ laps it still works.

That's not Momo Force, that's Formula Force. Momo Force has three buttons with different colors on both sides. Momo Force has been discontinued for a while.

i got one of those 'momo racing' wheels a while back... must admit it wasnt the one i was after but was about the best one i could find without either paying 100's, or ordering one in.

so far so good, not a bad wheel. had no probs with it, although the pedals did take some getting used to...they seem to lay a little flatter than other ones ive had, and seem to have slightly less travel, but it didnt take long to work out.

im really not to fussy when it comes to wheels though...aslong as they dont bugger up too fast.

my last wheel was a TM modena 360 pro. again, a nifty wheel. i quite liked it, BUT i broke a spring on the pedal after about 5 months. (which is ****. i average 1 game a week...maybe 150 laps on an oval...so what? 3000 laps and it started to **** up)

i tryed to find if i could order a replacement one, but it all got a bit confusing with different sites and different names for wheels in diff countries. in the end i just opend it up and swapped the broken spring to the brake pedal (which for some reason i quite liked the feel of)...
few months later the other spring ****ed up, and one of the connections on the gear paddle upshift went and would only work some of the time.... not so much of a problem for nascar games, i just used the stick, but for f1 type games it sucked.

hopefully this one wont be quite as much of a dud.

the only 'issue' ive got with the momo wheel is the mounting system. admittedly my PC desk isnt your usual kind. its got a reasonably thick top and the bit running long the front underneith is quite close to the front.
with the way TM wheels hook up to the table its never been a problem, but the FF wheel has an extra bit on the bottom you can use as a 3rd mounting point..... naturally this meant it wouldnt even get onto my desk..... needed some creative woodworking to cut a little slot out in the middle of that 'beam' bit along the front.

I found a MS Sidewinder for $20. Is it worth it?
