What is their purpose? They just cause problems only, what a stupid idea? In Hockenheim three red flags already...

It's obviously to prevent the drivers from cutting the corners too much, being too greedy. If they do that time after time, they'll only throw dirt onto the track. And where do you draw the line? How much can you cut inside? In some corners, bollards are a must, but it's much better when they use those who flex a little. It's a shame when they don't flex away a bit when hit, as they tend to shatter your front wing, but that is the punishment you get for wanting to shave one yard off the track.

the answer, to corner cutting used to be that "the circuit" would construct sharper teeth (i.e. higher) on the rumble strips, on the corner in question. that led to teams and drivers complaining vociferously and then it became a safety issue and the tendancy is to now put in bollards :

IIRC Monza is a prime example of this type of construction as is the Variante Alta at Imola

I want cement-filled tyres, half-buried in the asphalt like in Mexico 1967. That'll teach them to not cut the corners!

Are you kidding? What happens if one makes a mistake or has a mechanical failure? A big accident with serious injuries?

I understand that but do that this way in race of car with a lot of fragile components clearly leads to potentially very dangerous situation. Why not make kerb narrower, put grass behind it an drivers will not cut corners? I was not that who made, for example, first corner on A1 Ring in way that drivers are racing outside of track

I am just surprised that FIA conciders even smallest safety issue and on the other hand will make such stupid nonsense thing.
