It's Swede Savage and he's in a Champcar or a F5000, I guess. The location in the back looks interesting. Does anyone have an idea where and when this pictures was taken?

My guess - and it is a guess, I haven't checked anything - is that he's shaking hands with Dan Gurney and it looks like Ontario...

The track is certainly Ontario.

Savage drove three races at Ontario --- Champ 500 in 1970, Questor GP and Champ 500 in 1971.

I have a photo I took of him at the Questor --- driving uniform is the same as the Gurney site photo. However Savage drove #32 (looks to be a Sugaripe car) in the Questor. So I'll go with the champ 500 at Ontario, Sept 1971.

Thanks for the info. I was confused by the building in the grand stands. I only have two pictures of Ontario at all and they are just showing grand stands similar to Indy. Are there other good pictures from Ontario available where I can see more of the track?
