Sadly I agree with you on this one Barry. I watched the Losail GPM race on Sunday morning and Murray was embarrassing (highlighted a consistent inability to identify Emerson Fittipaldi - he was called Christian most of the time); I was lucky enough to watch the Silverstone net feed with little more than the sound of racing engines for soundtrack and it was great. I'm told that Murray got into his now-usual "don't mention the War" stuff about the Maginot Line at one point during the Silverstone commentary; while I accept the fact that Murray served in WW2 and will have somewhat fixed opinions about Germany and German drivers, neither Stuck nor Danner were born then and surely should not be tarred with that brush.

I respect Murray immensely for what he's done over the years but the mistakes stopped being funny a few years ago and became poignant then a little bit embarrassing; he was definitely losing his edge in his last few years on ITV and should be allowed a graceful and dignified retirement. I know his enthusiasm clearly hasn't diminished, sadly the years have taken a significant toll on his ability to communicate clearly.

Oh god no. No, no, a thousand times no. Sports cars are for sportsmen, not those who prefer gamesmanship. Leave F1 to rot, but don't mess up proper racing.
