I love some of these - particularly ones that shoehorn in about 3 or 4 different ideas into 1 short sentence.....

eg:

Villeneuve speaking at 2007 German GP at Nordschleife - "I'm proud my son is 2xWDC in both Normally Aspirated and Turbo cars"

Avoiding the usual "I wish X hadn't died/I wish Bernie had left motorsport" how about:

A post from a scale model forum seemed so appropriate here:

“Ford Wins Le Mans but Henry Ford fumes”

Ken Miles and Denny Hulme win the 24 Hours of Le Mans leading a one, two, three finish for the Ford GT40 and giving Henry Ford the victory that he has been chasing for many years. Rather than enjoying the victory, Ford was reportedly miffed that Ken Miles did not slow down as instructed to allow the three Ford GTs to cross the line together. Miles, who became the first driver to ever win the GT triple crown of Daytona, Sebring and Le Mans in the same year, did not allow the trailing cars to form up behind him but pressed on at near full race speed in the morning drizzle to win the race by several miles over the second place Ford GT of Bruce McLaren.

Ford reportedly is so irritated my Miles ruining the “million dollar photo opportunity” that he has directed Carroll Shelby, who’s Shelby American racing team manages the Ford GT racing effort, to remove Miles from any further involvement with the Ford GT racing program. Miles future with Shelby American appears to be unclear even in his moment of triumph. Miles was scheduled to do extensive testing on Ford’s next generation GT car, code named the “J Car”, at the Riverside California race track in the upcoming months. It is possible that Ford might have McLaren, a favorite of Ford’s European based racing development programs, replace Miles.

I've only read pages 1 and 2, then skipped to here, so apologies if I repeat anything.
These were actual headlines to news snippets, or race reports. though, not ones I wished I'd seen as per the thread title. I know the last one was in MN and the others could well have been, but maybe were ASpt.

After Lella Lombardi had some setbacks in her last few weeks of racing - crashes, mechanical etc.
Lella has difficult period
Jochen Mass had more than one option for the following season, but hadn't made his mind up where to go.
Mass debates
And finally. A staffer [and TNF member]at MN headlined a race report with this one and nearly became an ex staffer when the editor saw it. The freelancer's report came in from the Richard Seaman Vintage meeting at Oulton Park. The first few lines mentioned the very hot and summery weather in Cheshire and this is what he headlined the report.
Hot and Sticky Seaman
Sorry if I've offended anybody, but they made me laugh at the time - and still do.

OLD FERRARI RACING CARS FOUND
It is an historic day says motor racing historian Doug Mye as he viewed
four complete 1957 Ferrari Grand Prix team cars found in an old barn on the
outskirts of Modena. Mye said that it had been thought that the cars had
been broken up but here they were, complete and ready for restoration.
It is believed that numerous potential buyers are on their way to Italy cheque
books in hand.
**********************************************************************

BROOKLANDS DAYS OF GLORY MAY BE OVER
Nearby residents long battle for the closure of the famous track may finally have been won.
Their protests were recently intensified when the Bluebird Special of Donald Campbell went
over the banking to land a half mile away in a bus depot. Although no one was hurt the accident
may ensure that the track is closed. A local farmer said that the introduction of jet engine specials
was too much and even though the track had been extended the average lap speeds in excess
of 400 mph caused widespread unease amongst families living within the general area. "When
I saw Donald eject over my house I finally thought that enough is enough". He said.

However the recent duels between Campbell and A.J Foyt Jnr 111., both descendents of famous
racing drivers of last century, have created widespread enthusiasm amongst motor racing fans.
The British Rolls Royce Olympus 593 engined Bluebird has recently matched Foyt's Pratt & Whitney
F100 - PW -100 powered Kurtis-Kraft in speed. Motor racing historian Doug Bye said that the
long tradition of aero engined specials lived on with these cars and even though the typical 45
second lap times were maybe a "bit much" there was no denying that the spectacle appealed to
the public.

David Tremayne quoted it as the one all the subs had been waiting for in his preview of today's race - but they didn't use it as they had a better pun about Max being deserted by the teams (Bahrain ... desert .... geddit?) - and Eleanor Oldroyd said it as she handed over to David Croft on 5Live.

Thanks Vitesse2...

Ted Kravitz (I think it was him anyway) said it too during his intro on ITV.

OT I know but Bahrain bores me stiff, I'm sure because of the setting of the track. In fact I channel hopped to BBC during the ads and spent five minutes chuckling at 'Allo 'Allo! I was wondering if Max had too

I'm sure there's another thread for commentator howlers, (not incorrect, just funny) but I was at Oulton Park over Easter and heard the commentator (I think it was the excellent Ian Titchmarsh) announce excitedly to the crowd that 'Dick is wilting' (the Ginetta G50 driver Christian Dick) and that he was being caught 'hand over fist' by the cars behind him.. It raised a few titters amongst the spectators I can tell you
