I think it would be interesting to find out what's known about Tony Pompeo, who imported and sold quite a few interesting sports cars and racing cars in the early postwar years, all the way into the later 1950's. He was an italian-american and operated in the NYC area.

Tony Pompeo drove sports cars in many races on the east coast, including Thompson Raceway. He was also responsible for a fair number of racing cars coming to the USA in the early to mid 1950s. Can anyone tell me more about him and the cars he brought in to the USA?

The latest issue of Automobile Quarterly (Vol. 44, No. 3) has a whole article on Tony Pompeo. It goes into depth about his years as an importer of both etceterini and more known (Lotus, Maserati, etc.) makes. As far as his racing career, it sounds like he wasn't very skilled behind the wheel, though his enthusiasm for the actual cars more than made up for it. The article has some great pictures in it including one of him unpacking a new Nardi from a three foot tall wooden box.

Cris:
Could you possibly make me a copy of the article and send it to me? I have no need for the other articles in this issue. I was supposed to get a free copy, as my name is in the article....but never did...
Thanks,
Stu
