It is my undestanding that the current formula requires flat bottoms (on the cars of course!). Am i correct to assume that the undertray creates no additional downforce? How much downforce does a car create?

thanks in advance

Firstly, this should be in the tech forum, you are a junior member so you can keep your WDC points, but I'm sad to say that you'll be losing your constructors points, and will be looking a a hefty fine, several fish to Sally should be acceptable.

The max lateral G's of a no down force car should max out at 1, since F1 cars can pull something like 3.5 G's I figure that their downforce would be something like 2.5 times the weight of the car. Just a guess.

An F1 Car will produce well over 3000lbs of total downforce. Each team will vary on the total amount their cars can produce. This is highly secretive so almost impossible to determine. The 3000lbs is a very conservative number.

A F1 car produces enough downforce at 100 km/h, that if you would turn the road upside down, it still would hang on.

Trust me they tried...

or so I heard....

I've heard various numbers of around 4500lbs or so....don't know how reliable this number is...but it sounds pretty close....

The flat bottom is somewhat complicated by the use of diffusers at the rear of the undertray. Diffusers allow the integration of air from the underside of the car with exhaust gases and the air from the top of the car. There is some influence on downforce from the diffuser but it's not a ground effect system per se.

I have Heard of 3,500 Lb of Downforce for the current F-1 cars but this sounds conservative to me. I have also heard that the Current Cart Cars have about 5,000 LB downforce in Road racing trim. It would be intersting to compare Corner speeds in the fast Turns between Cart and F-1 Cars. I would imagine that the Cart Cars would surprise some people on how quick they are in the Faster Turns.

Like ggg said, this is a Tech Forum issue. If you have a look in that forum, you'll find a thread that covered it about three months ago.. the question was: Could an F1 car drive upside down? Something like that.
Have a look there, you'll be interested in what various 'experts' have said... use search to find it with perhaps 'upside down' or 'downforce' as your keyword.. it may be more than three months.

The rear wing creates a massive uprush of air, enough to blow the advertising signs off in Brazil!
