Dutch TNF gathering, anyone?

As a location, I would suggest the Motel Maarsbergen (which happens to be only 10 km away from where I live), because it is more or less centrally located (on the A12 motorway) and has some significance for historic motor racing fans - it is on the grounds of Kasteel Maarsbergen, where Carel Godin de Beaufort used to live. But any other suggestions are fine with me, too.
Is Saturday, November 13, in the afternoon an option?

Edit: I'll be there. And in between a little holiday - I'll guess I have a nice tan by then

What are the vlees kroketten like? Is the jonge jenever ok? And would I be near a good broodje bar...?
Op ons fietsen!

That would be a broodje bal Twinny. And although I may not be able to come op de fiets, it sounds like a good idea to me.

Not necessarily from an automatiek, but the (sometimes mobile) 'shop'!
Mattijs thinks I'm mad, but sometimes I feel like I need this food!
I love it! (memories of all my great days in the Netherlands...)

I'm affraid tha't it is quite far away from me but if something is possible to get nearby by train and someone can pick me uP? Why not?
Good idea!

There is a train station in Maarn (Utrecht-Arnhem) where I could pick you up. Or, alternatively, when you are coming from the east of the country, in Veenendaal. We'll work something out!

I'm from Edam, but Maarn Station must be possible for me. Thanks!

I agree with Stuart that those are vital questions but not to be asked in the posh surroundings of the Beaufort estate - but on second thought they might be as irreverent as Carel, his sport and his motel.
So where are the other cloggies?

it is a great idea. But I won't be able to attend this meeting on November 13th. My first "free" Saturday will be December 4.

In my , admittedly small experience of Holland it is a truly lovely place everywhere is so clean and tidy , no clutter, no mess tastefully laid out, lovely countryside, the people are delightful, friendly courteous, welcoming, hospitable, it seems just about everyone is fluent in English, and unlike near neighbours very happy to speak it and all the girls appear to have naturally fair hair and that lovely honey coloured skin. The Netherlands are a well kept secret and a credit to the people who live there.
Good luck with your get together - let us have some photos !

The Motel is a great place to meet. Its quite convenient and cosy. Time stood still in a way.
We can admire the Nurnburgring photo that is still hanging in the Motel Restaurant.

Seriously, 4 dec and 11 dec are not possible for me, so we'll not be able to find a date which suits everybody, I guess. Jorism, why don't you celebrate your birthday with us? Saves us from splitting the bill - yet another fine dutch habit...

1. A walk around the grounds of the estate;
2. A visit to the Driebergen outdoor kart track which is quite nearby.
Just some thoughts.

But vleeskroketten... hmmmm, lekker!!

It is just an option for program. The restaurant will be warm and cosy in November, dont worry.

But the date will probably remain a problem. December 4 is impossible for me, because I am in Austria. Maybe December 11 is a possiblity, provided I am not covering the ski races in Val d'Isère. But to me, November 13 remains favourite.

But please go ahead and don't let me interrupt your plans. I'm sure I will be visiting the motel and the estate grounds on my own on several other occasions. And why ever should this be a single occasion?
As for visiting Kasteel Maarsbergen, I'm certain that is out of the question. With Carel's biography that is soon to appear, his sister - who is the current inhabitant - has literally closed the book on her brother and wishes to be left alone by racing fans from now on...
Fluff tidbit - I share our host's taste in Dutch fast food. Loathe the frikandellen, but love the kroketten...

I am at a wedding in Rhenen, that is 15 km away
Is the book on Carel Godin de Beaufort already out then???
may be we can contact the writer to come and autograph it???

I could bring a self-modified 1/43 1974 Alpina 2002 or a 1973 1972-style Grab Capri ;)
I'll bring a digital camera. If anyone wants a lift from Amsterdam, I could pick you up at Amsterdam Lelylaan - send me a PM in that case.

Today, I was on a press trip together with well-known and long-standing Dutch motorsports journalist, Rob Wiedenhoff. I have invited him as well and he promised to be there, too.
I don't know about the karting. I won't be able to make it, but if anyone wants to go to Driebergen afterwards, feel free!

So even more Carel talk then!
Incidentally, Frits van Someren will be signing his new book on Beaufort the week after - November 20 at Autonet Carbooks in Rotterdam. Several TNF'ers will be on hand too...

Voor degenen die per openbaar vervoer willen/moeten komen,
welk treinstation is het meest dichtbij?
En zijn er eventueel mensen bereid iemand op te pikken in zo'n geval?
