In 1974 Maserati prepared two Boras (chassis #3000 and #3001) for competitions, under suggestion from the French importer Thepenier. The car never obtained the omologation to run in Gr.4, cause the requested amount of 500 pieces was not reached (only 372 standard cars were built).
The questions are:
1)Have these cars ever raced (maybe in minor events, hillclimbs, etc.)?
2)Where are they now, if they still exist?
3)Could anybody provide pictures and specifications?
Thanks!

Both cars was entered in 1973 for Le Mans and the Tour de France Automobile, but they did not receive the approval of the CSI.
In 1974, the CSI having to lower the minimum quota of production for the homologation of a model in Gr 4, it had hopes to see again these cars, but it will remain a hope ...
Jean Guykas has/had one of it, s/n AM117-3000.
He raced it often in historic races.

This car was tested in the french magazine Sport-Auto (Nr 144 - january 1974). The test was on the Bugatti circuit at Le Mans.
It is said that the car was lightened of 400 kgs (holes in the chassis, removal of comfort elements, hatchback in plastic and alu instead of glass and steel).
Other specifications : dry sump, 4 Weber carburettors, special cylinder head, ZF gearbox with oil radiator and two electric fans, torque : 50 mkg, 418 ch at 5500 revs/mn.
Two cars were prepared for the Tour de France of 1973, which accepted "GT-prototypes". The drivers had to be François Migault and Jean-Pierre Jaussaud. But financial problems and the road accident of Migault some days before the race cancelled the entries.
The cars never raced, it seems. A shame, for it is beautifully aggressive !

In 2002 there was a Ferrari GP in Montreux-Switzerland. GP is a grand name for a very pleasant show of old and new Ferraris and some other old racing cars. There was a demonstration run on the Sunday as well, the highlights of which were a F1 Ferrari (2000, John Bosch) and a 512M (replica ?). Among the non-Ferrari cars was a Maserati Bora LM 1973, of which I took several photos. This could possibly the car you are looking for. It was entered by Dominik Ellenrieder, according to the entry list. I will post the pictures as soon as I know how to do this.

I wonder whether behind the pressure from the French importer there was a hint of a Citroen's possible involvement in Gt racing (they owned the Maserati S.p.a. in the 70s, if I'm not very mistaken)...
Btw, thank you all for your help!

Well, I hope I can post pictures now. These were made by a very cheap digital camera at the Montreux Ferrari GP 2002.
