Hehe, we need many more of these threads. Most others on RC are the same. I am not really into gossip but I love it when they step out of their "Mr. perfect" role. Almost makes them human...

Well, I don't mind a bit of lighthearted gossip but experience has shown that these threads tend to get rather nasty rather quickly. If this one doesn't, I'm more than happy to play along.Originally posted by Shiftin

Don't expect any of this to affect him though. This is normal finnish behaviour (Just go out a night in Helsingfors and you will know what I mean...).;)

I read it somewhere...and when these guys drink, they seriously consume some alcohol.!!
It was only a month ago when Finnish skijumping legend Tommi Nykannen ended up
in jail (2 years?) when he stabbed his best friend after a drinking session.
I hope Kimi isn't going to derail on booze...it's a lot to take on for a young lad with the world
at his feet. It can't be easy....he really needs a mentor to watch over him.

Kimi and Jenny has allready confirmed that there isn't another man between them and they are happy. Jenny has been linked with her horseriding instructor. Kimi and Jenny have said that those rumors are rubbish and they don't bother to comment on those.
On the drunk note:drunk: Well done kimi, there is nothing to let some pressure out and have a little bit of fun with friends. And that was what it was, just plain fun according to the people who were "interwied" about this. This isn't any different behavior what is seen at those streets by other turists. These things really shows that the stars really doesnt“t have a private life. It's a pity.

We're big on binge drinking, yes. If there's booze in sight, it needs to be gulped down all at once, as soon as possible, because, well, if you don't drink it, someone else will. Wouldn't want that to happen.Originally posted by Ventura
Isn't Finland supposed to have one of the highest alcohol abuse rates?

And Matti NykƤnen really is a living legend - and a sad example of a guy who has basically been on a self-destruct mode ever since retiring (and arguably even before that). A brilliant ski-jumper but an utter and complete mess as a human being. This whole stabbing thing and the resulting jail sentence are just the tip of the iceberg, I'm afraid.

It's just that alcohol and driving don't go together, otherwise I'd say give this guy some drinks each GP weekend! He may evolve as a very interesting personality after all

Well, I'm a big skijumping fan (Martin Schmitt & Sven Hannwald i'm afraid!)...i witnessed most of Nykanen short career, he was arguably the greatest ever in the sport.! Shame about his downfall...by the way Hannawald is also on a downslope (burn out and dietary problems)

Very typical behavior for a young finnish guy, he was just having fun! When he starts drinking during GP weekends, THEN we might start worrying, not before.
Btw, Matti NykƤnen is a special case, I mean you could tell he was having problems already when he was at the top, he got wasted the night before an important event (Bisoschoffen IIRC) and was sent home.

Finns don't usually drink alcohol with meals the way Mediteranian people do. They binge drink at parties. I don't think Kimi would be Drunk anytime before a race...On vacation is another matter as displayed on the famous Kimi falling from the bridge of the fishing boat video clip!!!

Kimi is an intriguing driver, but after ten beers or so he would be blown into the weeds by two thirds of the BB posters.
He really should leave drinking to those capable of stomaching it, he leaves the impression of being one of those brawly poisoned dwarfs annoying to adult people in the pub.

HE is the one who is still remembered.

Well, there is an alleged "quote" from Norbert Haug where he is saying
"His (Kimi's) behaviour was highly inappropriate. Raikkonen is young and people take advantage of him. We have to speak to him and get him on the right track again, says Norbert Haug".
Freely translated.

Should be said though, that Aftonbladet prints a lot of ****, and often make up stories based on almost nothing.
According to the article, Kimi feel asleep on the pavement with a plastic dolphi on his head.

He danced with a plastic dolphin and finally he fell a sleep on the pavement with the dolphin as a pillow. Guess the Donkey (Donkey does F1) was busy that day

Don't like her Cyborg appeal. Attractive women need to have hot blood, a sweet heart or brains, or even better everything together. Jenny looks like having neither. I prefer my neighbour who by chance is also named Jenny.

I've never been drunk by myself -though I admit I've tasted beer a coupled of times and it was too bitter for my tongue for me to ponder on drinking- but I'm glad it has effectively become part of my core character values to be non-alcoholic!.
I beleive *drinking*(alcohol) is intrinsically irresponsible. After a while you loose sense of judgement big time -I gather and observe- and you tend to say/do pretty stupid if not embarrassing things. My advise is if you are a *high-profile* person don't drink in public! For a young man like Mr. Raikkonen, whose image is used by lots of big cooporate entities to make moneys, such a move by Raikkonen must not have resounded that well on them. I'm quite sure Ron & Haug will be keen to pull Mr. Raikkonen's ears on this one...
Anyways, I consider this OK from the young finn. He's just 25 after-all... though already (still??) married.....
And oh... were those a few more pounds on Mr. Raikkonen or did I miss something? Looks like he's not been training....
Bring on 2005!!

It's called "image". Somewhere along his racing career, Kimi decided that the stone cold attitude would make him stand out even more. Hey, if people are giving you cool labels like "iceman", you run with it as far as you can.
At times, he lives up to the name, with performances like SPA 2004, and his passing maneuvres which look rather sleek and timed, not brash like Montoya's.
But other times, when the pressure is on him, he loses his cool - moreso than any driver I've seen in recent years.

My advice would be different: Drink in public.
Make yourself a public nuisance, you will see it will triple your fanbase because people begin to view you as "character". It will also triple your anti-fanbase but don't bother because....
For a young man like Mr. Raikkonen, whose image is used by lots of big cooporate entities to make moneys, such a move by Raikkonen must not have resounded that well on them.
.... Today, there does not exist such a thing as negative attention anymore. Any negative attention is attention and hence intrinsically positive attention. It doesn't matter if people are talking badly about you as long as they recognize you and talk about you at all! That's why Kimi's manager would make at least as much a fortune out ouf a rebel, misbehaving KR as much as out of the non-entity in terms of character he is now.
Irvine knew exactly how to play the game, that's why he is remembered and could amass a fortune disproportional to his driving skills. And, ok, a title wouldnt hurt either....
