Don't forget Anthony Davidson for two races (I think) in 2002.

Did Bryan Herta ever actually test a Minardi?

AJF

Edit: Changed 2001 to 2002. Also, Herta apparently drove the PS01 in August 2002.

Coronel never tested. He was supposed to but politics got in the way and now that Wilux is gone, he can forget it completely.

Perhaps divide the list into two lists - (a) those who drove the single-seaters and (b) those who drove 2-seaters only?

why on earth would we think the two-seaters are Tyrrells?? I thought they were all 'bespoke' Minardis & that Stoddart just BOUGHT the entire Tyrrell stuff?? He certainly didn't 'convert' the Tyrrells into two-seaters!!

I can confirm they are (were) Tyrrells. When I was taken for a ride in the twoseater last month I noticed the Tyrrell-esque shape of the nose, caused by the typical suspension that was also present on the last Tyrrells. Minardi's Graham Jones confirmed that it is indeed a transformed Tyrrell. It's official name is the Minardi 026 T.

Christian Pescatori tested Minardi at Fiorano in December 1994 (maybe on Thursday 15th). It was his first F.1 test; he made some 30 laps, the best one was 1'09"6. In the same test, also Luca Badoer (1'05"6 - 50 laps) and Giancarlo Fisichella were present.

At the end of november (or beginning of december) 1994 Minardi tested some young drivers at Fiorano. Surely they were at least Luca Badoer and Giancarlo Fisichella, but also the Norvegian Tommy Rustad was announced.
I don't know if he really drove, I found his name on an article issued one week before the test and no evidence in later Autosprint.

Guido

Thanks! That's why I couldn't find him (as Rustand, as I previously wrote) with search utilities!
For future better searches, I also edited my post.

BY the way, now I could find this:

Hehe, Tommy Rustad got a test with Minardi some 7-8 years ago, through Beta, and could only travel 700 metres before he flew off! I mean, how about these F1 novices being a little humble and careful first time? :

Actually the supposed Arrows 2 seater was in fact the same ex-Tyrrell car. They never owned it, it was loaned by EFR.

October 25th, 2002, Friday: Minardi is at Fiorano shake down cars to be used next weekend at Imola for Minardi Day. Michael Schumacher asked to drive the red Minardi F1x2 and he did approx. 100 laps with his wife Corinna, Jean Todt (1 lap only!), Paul Stoddart, friends and sponsors. Best time 1'05" (record at that time was 57"546).
At that time there were 6 Minardi F1x2 (derived from 1998 Tyrrell 026) : 5 had the standard Minardi colours and one was completely red (but rear wing, black) without any sponsor. Some years before Stoddard was going to sign an agreement with Coca Cola for some exhibition with this car and he painted it in red. Then the agreement wasn't signd, but the car was never repainted. When Schumacher saw it, he wanted it, of course!

The car in question did end up with some sponsorship on it - for Auto Glym. European Aviation had the two-seater on the Auto Glym stand at Autosport International in 2000. I talked to Graham Jones at the show and he revealed that Stoddart had a major announcement coming in the next few days - turned out to be his purchase of Minardi. Of course, this also proves the cars are really modified Tyrrells - they were built in Ledbury before PS got involved with Minardi and was still in F3000 (also run from Ledbury). I interviewed Stoddart in summer 2003 and the car was still painted red. Can't remember if it still had logos on it though.

Is that karting WC Danilo Rossi? I know he had a few flirtations with single seaters, but what cars had he driven prior to that Minardi test?

I think the F2 drivers should be added too - the first Minardi F1 car was just a beefed up F2 car after all.

Minardi first entered F2 in '77 with Ferrari-powered Ralts. Drivers included 19-year-old Elio de Angelis, who made his debut at Misano - and nearly won!

Minardi built its first car in 1980, driven by Miguel Angel Guerra, so that would make it a 25th anniversary this year as a constructor. The first car, the GM1, used Mader-BMW engines and Pirelli tyres. Guerra scored points on 5 occasions, while Beppe Gabbiani also drove. Guido Dacco used the car for the following three seasons, and it was badged the M275 for the latter two.

The second car the FLY281 (FLY was the name of the design studio which created it) had Mader-BMW or Ferrari power. Michele Alboreto scored one pole and a victory in the BMW car (the only Minardi victory of any kind - save for the two-seaters!) at Misano in 1981. Guerra returned to drive the Ferrari car on just one outing, while Johnny Cecotto also pedalled a BMW car.

The cars ran as M281Bs in 82, raced to some effect by Alessandro Nannini and Paolo Barilla. The 83 car - the M283 - used Mader-BMWS (but would have taken a DFV) with Nannini racing to 10th in the championship along with Oscar Larrauri.
It was updated for 1984 without much more success, Nannini the driver again.

So in summary, F2 drivers were:
Miguel Angel Guerra
Beppe Gabbiani
Guido Dacco
Michele Alboreto
Johnny Cecotto
Alessandro Nannini
Paulo Barilla
Oscar Larrauri

Lamberto Leoni and Roberto Castello were also among the F2 drivers - Lambo in 77 with the Ferrari engined device and again in 84.

Yes, Danilo Rossi is the 1992 karting World Champion. He raced in Italy in F. 3 (and won a couple of races), but without money... he came back to karting.
At Monaco F.3 GP in 1993 Danilo Rossi was 9th driving a Dallara 393-FiatAbarth (for Forti Corse if I remember well)

Today we can add my compatriot Nicky Pastorelli, testing at Misano but heading for the States soon.

And of course, Enrico Toccacelo is Minardi's third driver from the Turkish GP on.

We must add here the israelian chap, whose name I don't remember, who helped to make the cash to Minardi by the Hungarian GP.

Carles.
