Please excuse me if this post is in the wrong place.
I am going to be in London for a couple of days next week. I usually hit the little book shop just off Charing Cross Rd. (can never remember the name and usually find it by trial and error), Alex Reade, and, if I have the time, Chaters.
Any other suggestions? The last couple of years most of my buying has been done on Ebay but I still love to go to a shop and look and turn pages before I buy.

I think you've named all of them.
Motor Books is the one off Charing Cross Road. Foyles used to be a source of some really old and obscure publications, but it's had a makeover in the last couple of years and all those interesting items seem to have disappeared.
If I were you I'd forget central London and head straight for Chaters in Isleworth. I can spend ages in there, just on the secondhand floor.

Hi
You could also try Foyles, they used to have an out of print section in with their motoring books.
It's not that far from Motorbooks.
Good luck with your hunting.

Used to is the right phrase - the section has gone now.

sports books (on the same road as Borders in Charing Cross Road - by the 2nd hand bookshops) or whatever it's called have a reasonable motorsports section.

Sportspages is the place you're thinking of Richie.
