Fellow NF members,

I have read in a couple of books that in 1971, Matra F1 driver Jean-Pierre Beltoise had his licence suspended after he was involved in an accident at the Buenos Aires 1,000km sports car race, which claimed the life of fellow competitor Giunti. For how long did the suspension last?

The accident happened in the 1971 Buenos Aires 1000kms race on January 10th; the next time I find him racing is on Sep 19th at the Canadian GP, so it looks like his suspension was for around 8 months?

Graham, are you familiar with the search facility of this BB?

I ask because you have started a few threads in the last couple of days that probably could have been better handled by going to 'search BB' in the top right just below the advertisement.

This particular subject has been discussed at great length, and while I'm not sure if the length of the suspension has been mentioned, would it not be better to explore that issue on that thread rather than start another that will later have to be merged with it? And, of course, to make that thread complete...

The next time I find him racing in F1 is the Spanish GP, April 18 1971......

The web-site Grandprix.com's Encyclopedia shows that at the Spanish GP, " Jean-Pierre Beltoise's Matra (who had now got his racing license restored after missing the early races of the year after his license was suspended following the sportscar crash in Buenos Aires which resulted in the death of Ignazio Giunti).
But at the Italian GP Sep 5th, " Matra was also running only one car as Jean-Pierre Beltoise was still suspended as a result of the sportscar accident in January in Buenos Aires which had cost the life of Ignazio Giunti."
I have to wonder which is correct?

Perhaps the Italian sanctioning body had ideas of its own relating to the death of one of their favourite sons?

A question for our French friends:
Doing some research on JPB I stumbled across two websites:
http://www.brk.fr is obvious. That's his kart circuit and school.

But what is http://www.beltoise-evolution.fr/ ?
A safer driving programme complete with video?

(Okay, Ray, hit it  )

And she might have asked the same question I did in my post: "Are you any good in French?"
