.....and how did they get it into that upper room?

Roger Stoddard sounds like a very unpleasant man..................I wonder if there were any real drivers who weren't missed when they lost their lives racing.

It does sound like the "older brother, younger brother" thing !! Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's bad !!

................and Aron had driven in the Mille Miglia!

Wonder when? Aron was 37-38 in 1966, so he could have raced in quite a few when he was in his 20's.

In the new Motor Sport is an article about racing movies, with a couple more good stills of Pete & Pat, and Sarti looking mean and moody at Monza.............but they're printed across the fold.

Hmm, maybe this is why Rubens let Michael through last Sunday at the same spot. ;) He knew he couldn't have got away with it due to ample tv coverage at that location! :D

911- he let him through just as Alonso let Heidfeld by (read: has been caught napping). :p I read in RC that he's even taken this matter to Organization Todt- crybaby.

I haven't finished reading it as yet !!

The outdoor track season takes up most if not all of my time, esp when you have a State championship thrower in the fold.

..... but I'll be done with it sometime in July when things calm down a bit !!

In the novel, Scott goes through a very tough rehab in an old shed on his estate.

I may have to repaint my little (Dan Gurney) Brabham-Climax in these colours:

I still reckon that Sarti was the most endearing and credible character in the film by far and that he should have won the championship and sailed off into the sunset on Lake Garda with Eva Marie Saint, who, despite her advanced age compared with the others, was by far the most attractive gurlie in the flick.

Here she with another obscure American actor a few years earlier. So who can name the film?

Hmmmm.......................you may have noticed in my previous posts a picture where Louise asked Sarti where the Monaco crash took place, and was told

'On the waterfront'

One possible reason for Manetta growing cold towards Sarti in 1966 could be when he found a picture of Sarti's secret 1965 test with Yamura:

At the back of the new Charade book I picked up at Stoneleigh there is a DPS with pics from the filming of Grand Prix at Clermont Ferrand during 1966.

I was, ahem, rather *surprised* to see the contraption in use below!

There's another photo of the 'spinner' here:
http://cinerama.topc...grandprixcd.htm

with someone else sitting in it. I think the only shot in the released film that used the spinner was Sarti on the banking at Monza; perhaps they were just testing it at Clermont.
