Its Melbourne GP time again and there are quite a few Atlas members (from all over the world) who will be in Melbourne for the big race.
Therefore, Mat and I were chatting today and have decided to try and get as many Atlas members together for a Meet and Greet (which we couldnt do last year).

Metrapol has a nice open area to sit down and drink, and have a meal as well. It should be good. Its on the outskirts of the circuit, so its close.

Trams are free for the grand prix at least the shuttles to the track are. But you can put on a broken english euro accent and say you thought all of the public transport was free on the grand prix weekend when inspectors pull you up for a ticket

Is there anything going after the race?
Last year I took a free bus down to Crowne Casino and saw some crew playing and drinking...

Think of it as a big bus ride with smaller windows and much cuter conductors (they can be really, really nice to you if you tell 'em you're afraid of flying). If you don't do it, it's something you'll always regret and you'll enjoy Melbourne, despite it being full of Victorians.;)
Besides if God hadn't wanted us to fly he wouldn't have invented aerodynamics.

Thanks for the advice.
Tomorrow is crunch time, just finding the cheapest and best deal, got two websites I'm eyeing. Currently 3:3Oam, spent ages, looking for deals, now I'm close, gonna get some rest, and tomorrow make the important payments, it's all scary to me until I'm in Melbourne lol, the airport, making sure the ticket is there, and right, boarding the plane, no NO, don't think the final desintination film and the plane blowing up, that scene scares the living daylights out of me. But I guess, cars on roads have more accidents, so maybe I'm lucky to have avoided car crashes.
I've been on planes before, last time Florida in 1999, still weird to me. I'll see what happens tomorrow, if there's availability to good deals, then destiny demands I go.
This feels like 24, every hour of action, every second counts.
But Melbourne sounds great, the warm weather out there, formula one, atlas people, this could be something, and I've hyped it up too much, so going over the line of no return, no way out.

Some info on the place:
Metropol Bar
60 Fitzroy St, St Kilda 3182 VIC,

Now, that green section of the map is the bottom part of the circuit. Canterbury Rd, which you can see on the map, runs parrallel to Gates 1 & 2 and the front straight of the circuit. It would be about a 5 minute walk from gate 1 and about the same from gate 10, which leads out onto fitzroy street. You could also take Tram 96 if you were coming from the northern gates (3, 4 & 5) which would take you right down Canterbury Rd.
Let me know via PM or on here if you need anything. We will be PM'ing you all soon with our mobile numbers just in case, so make sure you check them!

IT'S LIGHTS OUT AT ALBERT PARK, MICHAEL SCHUMACHER LINES UP A UNCOMPETITIVE 3RD, AIMING TO SHUTDOWN THE MCLARENS, RENAULTS GET A FLYER, WILLIAMS ON THE GRASS, WEBBER RECOVERS!!!!!!.
THE tension can be felt already, MS in the modified ferrari, is looking at a tough race, new cars of other teams, can't wait to see this live.
On Friday, be cool to arrange a kart race which I'm eyeing on a Monday maybe, if anyone else is up for that, indoor or out, not that I'm good, just haven't done it since I was 9

Looking forward to some hot weather and cold beer. It's well below freezin here in Detroit and we've got more than 6 inches of snow. I just got my driveway plowed so I can go to the airport and catch the flight to Melbourne.

Thanks.
If everyone meets up at 6pm
What time are the bars open to? Remember here in UK, London, were not allowed to drink when it reaches 11am I think. Australia I presume is 24 hours, not that I'm gonna stay there that long, but it's nice to know just in the case.

Metropol will be open to atleast 1am. I dont think it will be any later than that. But keep in mind, if you are still in a party mood, Fitzroy St is the perfect place to keep on raging. Among others, there is the Mink Bar which will be open to 3am i believe, and there is the night club section of the Prince of Wales hotel, which will be open until the sun rises. There is a heap of cool places on Fitzroy St, but honestly, only a couple that are open all night.

It seems that there is a choice between Azure and Boingo, they both seem to have a variety of hot spots around the city. Does anyone know which is better? If there are no differences then I might go with Azure.

I should be able to make it but I might be playing indoor soccer so I might not be able to get there till lateish.
I dunno, I haven't kept up with whats hot in Melbourne, but I remember there being some fine women when I was there last. Hopefully we'll get some of this mid 30's weather for the weekend!
