Hi

I'm wondering what channels that send the races live in different countries in Europe.

I travel sometimes, and when I'm abroad it's good to know what channels to look for. :)

I know this

In Finland you can see it on MTV3.
And in England (GB?) I guess it's ITV.
But what about Belgium, Holland, Germany, France, Spain and Italy. And other countries?

Thanks from a devoted fan.

Spain - telecinco (C5) - or it was last year, anyway.

Somebody can correct me, but I think Italy's is RAI Uno?

Telecinco (www.formula1.telecinco.es) broadcasts F1 in Spain but Catalonia, where regional station TV3 has the rights and, if I'm not wrong, is in charge of Spanish GP...

Yeah.

If you're staying in a hotel, they'll show it anyway - either on the room TV or the main TV in the hotel's bar/lounge. Since Alonso came onto the scene, it's become a huge part of Sundays for them. You might have more difficulty finding a pub that shows it due to them having Sky Sports, who have often have football/rugby league on at the same time.

In short, it isn't difficult to find it on. Only drawback is they have long, boring commericals, all featuring Alonso, who cannot act to save his life & do not show replays of things missed during the break. Hence much confusion for the British watching the Italian GP last year - when we left Button was in the lead - 5 minutes later he was 3rd with no explanation!

Telecinco is a regular terrestrial channel, you will find it with any problem in your hotel. If you are in Barcelona you will have to look for TV3.

Also, most hotels have some satellite channels, so you will probably have RTL (German) and maybe RAI too... so you can switch between channels during commercial breaks (RAI is slightly codified, but worth for breaks in other channels ;) )

My fam. and I will be among the Vast American Tourist Horde descending on Ireland this summer to terrorize fellow motorists, snatch up all things shamrock, and demand ice in our sodapop. We're going to be in County Clare (Doolin) for the Canadian GP. What are our odds of finding a pub carrying the race?

North American SPEED+TSN/ITV F1-TV-Guide for the upcoming Bahrain GP weekend.

Click HERE for the full size version (272 KB) that can be printed on a single sheet of ordinary 8.5" x 11" paper. Note: some web browsers (and image viewers) will auto-size the image to fit your screen which will make the text look screwed up - so when viewing, be sure to expand the image to 100% full size.

When I get some free time I like to whip-up these guides for my own convenience. Figured some of my fellow North American F1 fans might find them useful as well.

Eoin, why not do what I did? Get a british freeview card. Cheaper than rip off setanta and you can also recieve ch4 itv1,2,3 ch5 etc.

I thought there used to be a device on Formula1.com where you could look for the planned broadcasts in each country with the channels and times mentioned in their own time zones. I don't know if it's still there but you could try it.

RTBF/La Une for French commentary in Belgium. Commentary is better than on Canvas, allthough there are 2 or 3 short commercial blocks (Canvas does not interrupt). Qualifying is usually only on RTBF.

don't think we can get that in kerry, it is only for border counties, or eastern ones.

Not sure, Clare is the wild west of Ireland :D

Bulgaria: ITV Partner/Ring Sport; RTL

This is just in time to ask a question. Does someone know wether cable broadcasters can feed RTL (the same that can be received by end users via satellite) provided they pay RTL for the right to do so.
At the moment Bulgarian F1 fans are in total confusion and deperation.
Our sport television Ring TV all of a sudden and just a week before the season start surprised us that it will be going coded and will be broadcasting via ITV Partner. Those who acted on the moment and bought from ITV Partner the satellite system and decoder and became their subscribers then were informed that F1 events are in fact on pay-per-view basis and they have to pay additional fee for every event.
Many of us chose to change their cable operator and switch to one that provides RTL in an additional digital package for which they charge additional sum on monthly basis.
Now there are rumours that for the time of the live event they will cut RTL under demands from ITV/Ring.
And there is very suspicious silence from them.
Is it possible (and right) a company which has bought TV rights to enforce cable operators to cut broadcasting another TV whis is otherwise freely available.

I am asking this question in the hope that there are people who know more on this forum. And I wish to all of you not to have the bad luck to live in a country whose name can be substituted with Absurdistan.

I am afraid so considering that RTL is not a local channel in Bulgaria and the local broadcast rights are held, according to you, by a local channel. Having said that, I watched F1 on RTL in several European countries side by side their local channel.

In spain you can see F1 in Telecinco, and if you are in Barcelona, or anywhere in Catalonia, or some places of Balears Islands or Comunitat Valenciana yo can also see F1 in TV3/K33 (both channels are the public tv of Catalonia, and sometimes F1 are broacasted in one o other). In tv3 they aren't so alonso fan as telecinco, and put less comercials than telecinco.

PS: Sorry for my english ;)

Australia - Channel 10

This is a good thread to use as a reference when travelling. Perhaps somebody (maybe the thread starter) can group the list together in one post and keep updating? Just a thought. :)

In France:

I've seen all prac and qual sessions live on Eurosport for both the races this season.

There was a delayed telecast of the Melb race on Eurosport and I could catch Sepang live on TFI. I don't know if the Melb race was live on TFI.

My knowledge is limited to channels that are being shown in my hotel :)

In India:

Star Sports (usually)

USA (who says is not in europe ;) ) :
cable/satellite: speed tv for 15 live gps and some delayed fri practices and delayed sat/sun qualifying
air-antenna: cbs for 4 tape delayed gps (probably with 5 min preview of practices and qualifying)

pubs (if they are open at dawn) : setanta or one of the south american feeds, especially helpfull for those who cannot wait for the cbs tape delays

For $25 to $45 a night some (canadian) motels have cable or dish, some direcTV (ch607), comcast (ch40) or TSN (ch???). Just take the room for one night and there you go.

See example here ---------->> Hallandale
