Re McQueen's A40: the link below contains some reminiscences from Sir John Whitmore, in which he claims he borrowed the A40 for McQueen from a friend. Might this provide a clue as to whose A40 it might have been?

I was asked at the bar by 2 staff there to see which dresses I preferred. One said to the other, 'don't ask him, he's a man', implying men only look for certain things in ladies appareil.... Bloody cheek!!

As ever, top stuff Tim, many thanks. A sight of the photo might help. There were several A40s in 1961, incl Frank Williams' car, maybe Harry Digby/Mick Cave's Lorraine Engineering car, but perhaps a bit early for that. John Whitmore would have moved in the right circles so there would be plenty of options, one imagines. Perhaps something via Don Moore who did TMO for him, IIRC, but probably not UCE 13, about which I saw nothing after Doc Shepherd had raced it. Locally in the North we had, inter alia, Rod Bloor and his pal, local to Oulton, but the options must have been wide
Just curious.
RL

Btw , for those in the know, whatever became of the boxes of old BRSCC programmes which Tom used to keep. Did they end up with visionary Martin Hadwen or go to Oulton archives?

News of your "new Thai female helpers" did not reach our part of the table Slurp, nor, apparently did your definite presence in some quarters!!

Tell us more.

I believe that there was some brief mention of the pastime known as "football"- a subject of less than zero interest to myself.

Also, the Swift Gallery opening event (be there, or kick yourself). ;)

In view of the BBQ suggestion in Delamere Forest how about "over the river and into the trees"?

"Over The River and Into The Trees" - wasn't that the title of Alan Raine's FF1600 biog, or am I very much mistaken?

I've been through a bush at Cadwell Park but never over a river (unless it was raining hard)

I must admit that I misquoted "Across not over" but you bunch of ignoramuses didn't recognise Hemingway anyway so couldn't correct me

There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man; true nobility is being superior to your former self.   ;)

I think Eric had all the right words, but not necessarily in the right order.

After nearly ten years and 133 pages of waffle, time for a new thread, folks. 100+ page threads tend to give the database indigestion, but pouring Gaviscon down its vent shafts isn't a good idea. So please continue here: http://forums.autosp...ings-part-deux/
