I once read a quote about Gilles, I beleive it went something like this....

"We all know only God can perform miracles, but sometimes Gilles made you wonder."

I beleive it was someone named Alberto Tombay?

Any info on this would be appreciated. I can't remember where I saw it, and it is driving me mad.

It was Patrick Tambay, you were close, and I think it was in reference to the 1979 Friday session at Watkins Glenn, when he schooled them on wet weather driving.

I know the quote, too. It was after the first round of qualifying at Watkins Glen in the rain, and Gilles was eleven seconds faster than the next car, his teammate Scheckter.

11 seconds, story about it at villeneuve.com; awesome that must of been his driving that day in the pouring rain. Thought the sight might have tapes of his racing for sale maybe even his snowmobile races, but Not!
