This is Hockenheimring, the 5th round of 1974 championship (25/08/74), where Barrios was 5th in the final. The car is Chevron B26 Ford (Forge Mills Racing).

BTW, is it Ian Grob in a Chevron B23 behind?

Was Stadler French? I don't know but I'm guessing Servanin was. And if Stadler wasn't, that'll be Servanin behind.

Reason? He's wearing a [French] GPA helmet which was very new back then, and almost exclusively worn by Frenchmen.

Fred Stalder (not Stadler) was indeed French, he was the team chief/owner of Racing Organisation Course, entrant of both his and Servanin's Lola's.

Bugger.

Oh well; it could be either one of them in that case!

Sorry 'bout that. However, Autosport's report says that Barrios & Stalder were involved in midfield group in the first heat behind Dave Walker's Toj, which suggests that the guy in the Lola is the boss.

Hi Joan Albert,

So, can we assume that we will be having a B26 from Fly in the near future?
That would be really cool.
Maybe a B23 too?

Hi Carlos

May be possible. I have working now in history of R. Barrios with your personal photo collection. I have too the original dessin from Chevron. Remember that Fly made some year ago the B19/ 21 and possibilty to made the B26 is on the table, and was the bos's car.

Joan Albert

Was ROC the team that used an engine based on the Chrysler/ Simca 180 engine in its cars?

Simca-Chrysler for sure, don't know about the original engine.....seen later, a little bit enlarged, at LM, on the infamous TJ-Roc Group C2

IIRC the Simca/Chrysler ROC engine was used in various Lola and Chevron G6 2-litre cars thru' the mid and later 70s, also in F2 Chevrons at that time. It never seemed to be as good as the Beemers/Harts/Renaults though. That ROC Lola would be a T294 I guess.

I know ROC was a French company, but I seem to recall that Stalder was, in fact, Swiss!??

Michael, He's been quoted as French in all F2, Sports & Touring car data I've seen since the 1970s... I've not seen a reference to him as Swiss.

Joan Albert,

Another gorgeous car of the boss was his red 1973 Broadspeed Ford Escort RS 1600.
Plus Jose Uriarte's silver example...

I can remember the noise as being most unpleasant - it really was something that made you wince. Ugh!

If you were at HMSA Jefferson 500 at Summit Point last weekend you could have seen Peter Gulick drive the p@$% out of a B26. They were and are very quick cars in the right hands!

Hi Reyna,

That's it, the gorgeous little beasts.
Any idea who's driving the Topcon Alfa 1300 GTA junior that follows Rafa at Mantorp?
