This is the sequel to F1'99, the much promsising by failing game by psygnosis.
Here's the **** from IGN:
Formula One 2000

Six new shots of the upcoming F1 racing game that Midway is publishing for release in the U.S.

June 12, 2000

Published by Midway, Formula One 2000 is the latest edition of Psygnosis' celebrated Formula One racing series, which features what is arguably one of the best F1 games of all time on PlayStation, Formula One '99. The same distinguished development team that handled last year's work, Studio 33, is handling the creation of this latest version. Based on the early revision of the game that we were able to get our hands on, the game looks and plays as good as any previous game released in the series. The control is classic Formula One racing and it looks to be loaded with every feature than any F1 enthusiast would be looking forward in a videogame. The game's graphics are the best in the series, although it isn't really a noticeable improvement to last year's impressive version. It looks like Formula One 2000 is on its way to be the best F1 racer on PlayStation. IGNPSX will have more information on this title in the coming weeks.

Now for my thoughts:

It looks very very much like f199, which I guess looked alright, but I still like F197's graphics heap better.
I don't mind though, cos as it's said, it's all in the gameplay.

which is something they had better get ****en right this time. F199 was a dog to play, and no fun at all.

Hopefully they fix the AI too, none of this get 5 seconds infront then lose it all in one lap ****.

But really, what do we all want??

I want F197 but with updates. Keep F197's graphics (well, touch them up a little, but keep the same basic graphics, you know) and the Physics of the cars aswell (and touch them up a little too, cos they are the most fun handling cars I've ever played)
Make a few more options in the car set-up.
Put the ruels and stuff in, 10 stop and go etc.

Really, just F197 but updated.
That's what I wanT!!!1

Some facets of F199 I'd like to see retained:

Safety Car

"Hold" Clutch and release at start.

Agreed on the 10sec. penalty GR.

More realistic airflow dynamics..
(the decreased weight of the car when slip-streaming-turbulence, the outrageous oversteer when following too closely in the corner, etc.)

Passing should be made much, much more difficult as to mimic real-life.

"Career" mode where you can begin as a driver in a lower class team such as Minardi or Sauber and work your way up into better teams based on previous season's performance, or stay with the present team and procure better sponsorship with better results.

BRING BACK THE LINK MODE which was in the original Psygnosis' Formula One, from 1995. That was incredible fun, racing a complete F1 season head to head with a buddy complete with the full F1 field.

Just some features I'd like to see, and ohh....More realistic and individualistic AI...

don't worry uprc , i'm sure they'll have an arcade mode for you.

i reckon it looks as usles as 98, 99 ......why can't they get it right......are they too dumb ??

i know i could make a perfect one for us.

they sux.

the camera shots look just the same as 98, 98......and i thought with the graphics, oh yeah its gonna be awesome...but i'm not gonna fool for it the year.......its all politics.

The only reason why you hate arcade mode is because the difference in lap times between Grand Prix and arcade modes are so big people know that you are using arcade

I only go on 2 player when I'm playing against my friend that wants it on it. I prefer GP mode.

Ahem, back on topic guys!!

So, popular belief is that F197 is the best? I have this on the PC and I do enjoy it, except that you can't run a full season because it always crashes when loading Monaco!

When the PSX2 get released here in late Nov I am planning to buy one. I don't have a PSX at the moment, so I was wondering which F1 game was best. Do you think I should go with 97 as 98 & 99 are bad??

Along these lines, is there an F1 game due to take advantage on the PSX2's capability?? No one seems to talk about the PSX2 very much here. Has it been released anywhere outside of Japan yet??

By the way, I prefer GP2 to F197 on the PC. I would try GP3 but my PC does not have a hope in hell of running it!!

Yo yo yo, wassup?

Kiwi,
F197 on the PSX is the best on it so far.
It may be a little out dated, but it's by far the most fun to play.

98 sucks.
99 is about equal as F197, but it's not as fun to play.

But for PS2, well, there are two F1 games that are looking good for it.

First up, you've got F12000 by EA sports, which is looking VG. How it plays? I don't know. If you can, have a go at F12000 for PSX by them, and see how that plays. I haven't yet, but I want to.

And then you've got Formula One 2000 by Psygnosis.
I think this may be the better of the two.
Just cos.
The team making it is some liverpool based team who done Wipeout2097 (I think) and that was pretty cool, so I suppose you could expect the same kinda quailty game.

I'll get the info and **** and lay it down here for you to see.
How about that?

Oh, and the PS2 hasn't been released outside the Japan place yet.

Earliest for other countries is 26 oct I think, in the US.
There has been a rumor that the date has slipped for the UK, and as for NZ Aus, I think it's about november or maybe even next year that we get to see it

When I bought my PSX this spring, I bought two games: Colin McRae Rally and F12000. Colin McRae kicks ass. F12000 sucks ****.

What's wrong with F12000?

1) Slow
2) Crap realism

Compared to my 1995 copy of Indy Car2 on a 1997 Macintosh, F12000 is a joke. The graphics look nice, but they crawl. Practice is ok, but in a race the other cars bring the game to a crawl and makes it unplayable.

The realism sucks. This is obviously a game and not a sim. Within my first hour, I had pole at the Nurburgring -- by 3 seconds! Not only that, but my pole time was 3 seconds faster than the time set this year! The other cars are so slow, that there is no opposition. I tried every option, but I could not make the *game* any harder.

Don't waste your money.

EA's first attempt. Give them time.
