I was watching the race from Monza this morning and noticed that when Sato came in for a stop his rear wheels were blackened by brake dust, in contrast to his front wheels, which looked clean in comparison. I can see teams running more bias to the rear on a track like this, but I'd also expect to see a more even distribution of brake dust on all the wheels.

Different brake spec's front/rear?

More are flowing over the fronts.

Blowing it away.

Then why wouldn't you see the same characteristic on the other cars? They all looked to have the same amount of dust on their wheels, front and rear.

All other teams had the bias set higher at the front?

There was talk of Sato being filled "to the brim" after a botched fuel stop. I dont know how true this is but I think if it was the case he would have a lot more rear bias to stop the back end becoming the front.

Miko Sala had to have a chest operation this year and the surgeons were horrified to find a large quantity of black carbon fibre brake dust in his lungs. Apart from his GP appearances he did huge milage testing particually for Ferrari.

Everyone knows Mike Schumacher uses a lot of front brake bias to pivot the car around its nose :stoned:

I'm having a hard time finding what relevance that comment had to this thread. :(

Not to mention its accuracy.

Mike's front brakes have more brake dust than do his rears. That was hard to figure out.

That's not the part I was questioning.

He tested exactly 15 days for Ferrari in 1999. He has tested and raced far, far more for other teams. But it's nice to see your agenda
