I noticed in Friday's practice sessions that the right side mirror on MS's Ferrari was set much higher than the left. If it's to check the rear tire wear, I would have thought the left side mirror would be the one as thats the side that gets more wear. Or is it to see how the refueling process is going...that he doesn't trust the guy with the lollipop in front of the car?
Rubens' car has them both set low.
Saturday qualifying was the same....MS's right hand mirror set up high

Rubens' both at the same height

Same thing during the race.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks.

Schumacher likes to be able to see his rear tyres. Apparently there is a small drag penalty, but they can live with that if Schumacher can manage his tyres better.
(That's what Ross Braun said anyway.)

As far as I remember, Schumacher started this trend in Hungaroring.
I don't remember what his mirror configuration was in Turkey, but in Italy it was the same as Hungary.
Since the right mirror is higher, which tyre is he seeing? Shouldn't he look at both tyres? Why being able to see just one?

Since there is a drag penalty, and he only needs to look at the tyre with the most loading, only one high mirror is used.

But the tire with the most loading at Monza was the left rear and it was the right side mirror set high.Originally posted by Slumberer
