On an excursion in Istria today, I noticed a large billboard on the road into Pula advertising 'Street Racing' with a picture of some touring cars on it.

I did not quite notice the full date but I thought it said 10.2.2005. Is this correct and what do we know about it? Or... is it in fact an old one from times gone by?

Whilst you are there Barry, perhaps you could find out about these places which seem to have racing this year?
Zagreb
Solin
Oseijek
Split

Only Grobnik(Rijeka) is mentioned on any of the several circuit websites.

Pula is mentioned on Franz site, but my German is not up to much-think he is saying he is looking for info.

True, but maybe they use the American date system in Croatia and it means 2 October (which is a Sunday)? Where are our Croatian members when we need them?

I found another small poster in Rovinj this morning. It is October 2nd but the website seems to be more aimed at tarted up hot-rods etc.

No time to find out anything more - we set off for home at 6.10 a.m. Saturday.

Sorry for not replying sooner (am writing this from Net Cafe), but I think it's some ridiculous 402m drag race... :

Apart from Preluk (halfway between Rijeka and Opatija), which was closed in 1978, but one can still drive on it and Grobnik near Rijeka, which just recently hosted a WC round for sidecars*, one will also find a hillclimb track on Ucka mountain in vicinity of Opatija... As for current state of affairs in Croatian motorsport, I must admit to being completely oblivious of it.

I tried recently to obtain circuit maps for few Croatian road and street courses which have hosted Croatian Championship rounds in recent years (Zagreb, Split, Solin, Dubrovnik, Osijek, Pozega, &c) but recieved no answer whatsoever from relevant authorities and local clubs... :

* it should host few races on regular basis including motorcycles and touring cars for Croatian Championship, few int'l events like Euro C'ship for bikes, &c
