I would like to obtain the autographs of Jackie Ickx and Jackie Oliver on small metal plaques in order to put them on the display base of my 1/12 scale Gulf GT40.

Would anyone know how I might go about obtaining them or even if they would be agreeable to doing this?

Can you get to next year's Goodwood FoS?

It all depends how ethical you are. Both autographs are reproduced in Adriano Cimarosti's The Complete History of Grand Prix Motor Racing but copying them would, I'm sure, be a breach of copyright. You could of course contact them and ask permission.

Breach of copyright? That doesn't sound right. Do people copyright their signatures? Jimmy, as this is for your own personal interest and not being done for any monetary gain, I can see no harm whatsoever in copying the signatures from the book then presumably having them engraved.

You could also try writing to Jackie Ickx at 171 Chaussede la Hulpe, 1170 BRUSSELS, Belgium. It's an old address but it may be still current.

Hi Jim,

I understand that you want the original autographs on the plaques?
Otherwise, here are both autographs of Oliver and Ickx that I have on one page in my autograph book:

The address mentioned above is no longer current I'm afraid and I don't know where Jacky lives right now although I could find out.

This address is outdate since 1985.
The only way to get orginal signature is to meet them sometime, somewhere.
If you need a large signature of Jacky Ickx (but after all it is only a scan of an A4 page he signed for my website) you can contact by email from my website. Don't ask me to have the plate signed, I don't do it.

By the way, there is no copyright on signatures. If you use it for other purposes than private, it is just a false and you can be suit for fake signatures not for copyright.

Yes since 1985 but during some years after, the post office made the mail re-direction.
But the Ickx's office went closed during winter 1985-1986.

Jacky Ickx lives in the country-side as I remember from 10 years ago when I knew Vanina.
Don't remember where exactly... Just somewhere east/south-east from Brussels!

Copyright - no. Trademark - yes, esp. in the case of many current/recent NASCAR drivers.

Thanks to everyone for the help.

As far as copying someone's signature, that is out of the question. I just will not do that.

As a long time Gulf/Wyer/Ickx/Oliver fan (see my post about the "JWA Train" http://forums.autosp...&threadid=48856), I thought it would be nice to have their signatures to display with the nice model. Some personalities might not want to do this thinking that it is only for monetary purposes such as e-bay, but this is only for me and it will be passed down through the family after I'm long gone.
Take care everyone,
Jimmy
