Not the best drawings, but you get the idea... And I don't think this will make the car look better either...

The second one looks like too steep an angle to be much use, would cause lots of drag?

In fact, desingers are probably working out right now how they could react to the new rear wing idea should it be implemented, and that might very well include various bits and pieces surrounding the engine cowlings.
And if it then turns out to nullify the goal the FIA has with the new rear wing, the FIA will ban it.;)

I think aerogi's point was that if the CDG wing get's approved, there's a risk of having excessive protrusions on the airbox compensating for the loss of downforce and to ruin airflow for following cars.Originally posted by Ross Stonefeld
The first one has been used a few times, but in a much smaller version, usually at Monaco.

Of course, this would have to be remedied in the regulations if the design gets a thumbs up.

I mean, in the 80s there have been 'huge' wings too? And there was lots of overtaking. So... would'n' it be better to 'delete' all of these little wingies, midwings, engine cowling wings etc?

Something close although it was I believe to speed up the air into the airbox which all had holes in the back of them to cut power.
