I'm a great one for "common threads".

There is the tale of the Great Train robber, the get away driver, supplied by BC Ecclestone (although Bernie says he was just an F3 driver he knew, and when he came out of prison, he gave him a job making trophies.

Vic Lee, importing "stuff" in specially converted welding gas bottles, twice I think?

Nick Whiting (Charlie's brother), which is particularly nasty,

an American, John Paul Jr?

While not an affinity between motorsport and crime, it has happened more than once. Any others?

Oh yeah and giving Lavaggi a drive doesn't count!

There was no 'getaway' driver on 'The Great Train Robbery' in the sense that someone had to drive fast. The booty was handed down in sacks and loaded into trucks and Land Rovers. These were then driven, at an inconspicuous speed, to a rented farmhouse. On that occasion, Roy James merely stole the vehicles.

Of course Roy James drove slowlywhen stealing trucks, he was a professional, you do not want to be nicked driving a truck, your kids will be picked on at school. Nah, Nah. Nah your Dad calls himself a car thief, Nah, Nah, Nah. Roy always preferred the Jaguar 3.4 saloon to the Jaguar 3.8, he thought it the better balanced car.

Forget what the police drive, concentrate on what criminals drive. Not only does their freedom depend on their choice of car but, since they are stealing them in the first place, they can choose their cars.

probably better than "money no object" especially as your not paying at all!
