Now that the 2006 Silly Season is almost over -- only three Red Bull seats remaining so nothing exciting expected there -- let's turn our attention to next next season: 2007.

There's three major scenarios, from my point of view, and I'll put them in order of likelyhood:
1. Räikkönen leaves McLaren and joins Ferrari -- this one is widely expected to happen -- and Montoya stays
2. Montoya leaves McLaren (or is forced out) and Räikkönen stays -- this would be '88-'89 all over again
3. Räikkönen leaves McLaren for Toyota -- which would be my preferred option and, I think, the smarter thing to do for the Finn.
In the first case, the list would roughly look like this:
McLaren: Alonso, Montoya
Ferrari: Räikkönen, Massa
Renault: Fisichella, Kovalainen
Toyota: Schumacher (Ralf, there is no other ;-)), Trulli (?)
In the second case, I think:
McLaren: Alonso, Räikkönen
Ferrari: M. Schumacher, Massa
Renault: Fisichella, Kovalainen
Toyota: R. Schumacher, Trulli or Montoya
In the third case:
McLaren: Alonso, Montoya
Ferrari: M. Schumacher (?), Massa
Renault: Fisichella, Kovalainen
Toyota: Räikkönen, R. Schumacher
However, it could be entirely different, still. The Autosport article says only six drivers have a confirmed 2007 race contract: Alonso (McLaren), R. Schumacher (Toyota), Button and Barrichello (Honda), Rosberg (Williams) and Heidfeld (BMW). So... we could yet have an other 1996 at our hands. I wonder...

Toyota are serious about f1, they could offer Kimi big bucks, plus neither Ralf or Trulli are the star driver Toyota need to mount a championship in 2007, if indeed they get competitive enough by then.
Ferrari isn't the only choice for Kimi.

It was an awful gamble for MW to go to team with second-rate un-committed engine supplier like BMW.

Hopefully MW can still get to a good team, maybe Williams can be good. But Rosberg could be a risk... yet "F3000 champion" J. Wilson was no trouble it's possible Rosberg may be no trouble.
If MW had gone to Toyota for big bucks, then Trulli would never have gone there and we would have never seen the Toyota-Trulli combination. If MW had gone to Renault, it would have been spectacular because he would refuse to be slower than Alonso without trying really hard.. maybe some spectacular loses and things would of been great to see some fire at Renault instead of consistant reliable Fisico. But never mind, 2006 & indeed again in 07 the order of the teams will be reset, and contracts up for grabs.

I'd Hardly call Trulli a disappointment. Outdrove this years world champ to the point of being kicked from the team. Ralf on the other hand would be a disappointment if I had a reason to care about him.
Anyway I think MW will go to Renault (if they exist still) or Ferrari, unlikely to be Toyota (since he seems to prefer 'private' teams).
