Many thanks for the postings, fellas. That is a fascinating style on the Connaught, simple yet very expressive.

Guys, do you remember that double OHV valve actuation layout I was so excited about on the previous page? In fact this was pretty common feature on British engines - for example this 1947 Triumph 350cc engine beautifully illustrates it on dedicated inset (there were also similar Norton and BSA designs) 1947-Triumph-350cc-Engine.jpg I'm a little bit surprised (and probably dissapointed) that no one told me that before - because precisely this thread showed me the beauty of vintage motorcycle engines...

It depends! I believe the majority is 2-point, but there are some which are 3-point.

Can you (or anyone) show me the example of car illustration drawn in 3-point perspective drawing?

Although I did not read all 317 pages of this thread (yet), I must confess, I too find cutaway art utterly fascinating. I collect automotive artwork in general (mostly old drag racing stuff), but I also have a maybe 20 or so original cutaway illustrations as well. I quite fancy the work of Brian Hatton, but also have works by Dick Ellis, Michael Badrocke,J. G. Hostler, John Ferguson, John Marsden, Chris Plant, and what I believe to be a David Kimble. I think the one that has been overlooked is a guy named Tom West. Sadly, he passed a year or so ago. He did mostly drag racing cutaways. Once I figure out how to post images, I will be happy to share.

I really enjoy these cutaways  where do I find the page here with a link to a list of the diagrams ? Has there been a cutaway of the "Sunoco" Ferrari 512 ? Am I correct in remembering that there was a cutaway in Car & Driver magazine, in period, it was I believe an article to do with the Penske, Kirk F. White  Le Mans effort ?

Tom was a great contributor here on the cutaway thread.. I considered the 'X-Ray' man as a personal friend, and had a fine contact with him.

He shared a lot of material with me and a group of friends.

He was, of course our hot rod and dragster man.

Our in-house historian Ibsen does a regular update with an index....... The Index !!

The last one was 04-11-2018

I can not really recall a specific 512 piece on the Sunoco car

Good on ya, Ibby.  I seem to recall an article...possibly Car and Driver...where Mark Donohue first tried the 512M after a tuneup of the V-12 courtesy Traco.  I remember a line that went something like 'it would yank the pants off a F5000 car'.  :)

Hi Michael,

I never saw the 'Car and Driver' article about the 512M and the cutaway. Any info is welcome (Year/Month of the magazine, color or B&W cutaway?).

The Ferrari 512M by Tom Fornander posted above came from the japanese book Sportscar Profile Series 3 - 'Ferrari' by Kazuo Higaki.

Regards

Thanks Chris, 10kDA for your comment, I made that very speculative cutaway to only show how it could have been and for the new generations that did not see those reports or their advertising ...! At least he was not indifferent about that old project

OK ... with a little help (or a lot of help) from StanBarrett2, I think I can post images of some of the cutaway illustrations I have. All originals. Various artists, and various sizes.
