We've finally reached sixteen thousand! Almost entirely thanks to Ibsenop' efforts - Everyone else probably already empty of fresh cutaways - just like me :smoking:

I have quite a few cutaways that I could add but loading them is such a mission!

As one of the long time supporters of and enthusiasts for cutaways, I welcome your offer of contributions. I am sure Vitesse 2 or Tim Murray, our Moderators, will be only too happy to post them for you, as would Ibsen or Marc Fenijn. Please feel free to submit them. You are leaning on an open door.

Elfin FJ and 1.5 - very successful in Matich's hands - I raced one and it was terrific (actually the first of 2 Matich raced), a very strong chassis meant it could be sprung quite hard which mine was, most cars had overhanging chassis at the back the Elfin was short, which helped a lot. Brabham had long chassis up to BT9 (1964) I am pretty sure. This Elfin was 1962.

What a joy to see some of Tom's work again. There have been a few examples on the FB cutaway page, but usually like their stuff, in low res , so these clean god size files are very welcome. I miss the chance to exchange e mails with Tom these days. To me, as a known non engineer, he was always very patient in explaining queries I had about designs or layouts etc. I always found his drawing style elegant in it clean simplicity, and whilst not in the super x ray styles of others, it always showed/explained clearly what he wanted to show. Did what it said on the tin.

Cutaway Truax X-3 Volksrocket/Enterprise. This work is a highly speculative free interpretation of that Robert Truax project and whose feasibility was very real, I remember reading that article in the Popular Mechanics magazine in the Spanish edition of May / June 1981 and thinking that it was a version of the V-2 missile "Manned" a few years ago I stumbled upon the article now in English and with the help of the internet I expanded the data as far as it could go and decided to make the cutaway as a modest contribution to Robert Truax's dream that later The great designer Burt Rutan and his successful SpaceShip One would follow with better results, which gave way to the only space tourism vehicle the SpaceShip Two of the Virgin Galactic company of Sir Richard Branson of which a large number of aspirant tickets have already been sold to “Tourists Space ”awaiting the completion of test flights.

Third - and probably the best - cutaway of opposed-piston Commer TS3 engine by Crawley (other two cutaways from Workshop Manual were already posted, I believe) 1954-Commer-TS3-Cutaway.jpg and this is the entire booklet reprinted from Commercial Motor where I found the cutaway - just in case if somebody wants to know more about this engine  1954-Commer-TS3-CM-Article.jpg

Excellent posts, chaps. Most welcome, especially the super resolution on the TS3 image, with its clear vision of the porting .

Thank you very much for Cisitalia cutaway - I had only few partial cross-sections from The Grand Prix Car by Pomeroy... Although only shadow of those dreadful Autounions, still incredibly advanced design for 1947 - that front differential with intermediate gearing to package driveshaft as low as possible... Much more rational than extreme exotica of Alfa 160 with driver behind rear axle

Any info about this "Zero" car? Maybe some link to read? Thank you

A search for 'Dome Zero Concept' will give you what you are looking for.

Are we sure about this being a Chaparral 2C? It's missing the moveable wing on the tail.

I was wondering if it was a Chaparral at all and thought it might be a Chinook Mk.I or II.

The missing wing and the rivets/bolts at the rear chassis tub that made it look like a metal and not a fibreglas tub.

The Ludvigsen book about Chaparral has a good photo that proofs the drawing right.
