I ll would like to know a little more about him. What I know he entered an heavy modified Lancia Astura at Spa in 1948, and DNA at Le mans in 1949. In Stefan site he is listed has US citizen, I thought he was British citizen. He was involved with Gordon Keeble an Peerless. Anymore ?
Second question his co-driver at Spa was a certain Lewis, any info about him ?

Robert,

I can add a little re. John Gordon.

There was a good interview with him in Thoroughbred & Classic Cars in August 1984.
(if you send me your e-mail address, I'll send you a scan)

His full name was John Stapleton Gordon, born in Rochdale, Lancashire in 1918.
After the war he was in the motor trade, and raced a Maserati in partnership with Lance Macklin, plus his Astura, seen in this snapshot taken at Goodwood.

I think it is unlikely he was ever an American citizen.
He died in Salisbury, Wiltshire in 1993.

There was also an American John Gordon, an SCCA racer who participated in long-distance racing in the early sixties with an Osca [Sebring, Le Mans].

Le Mans 1960 and 1962, in both cases driving an Osca with Jack Bentley. I agree that it is unlikely to be the same Gordon you were referring to.

In his 1963 Le Mans history, David Hodges lists:

Gordon, J.S.' (USA) 1960, 1962 sharing an OSCA with J. Bentley (USA) on both occasions, 750cc in 1960 and a 1.6 litre in 1962
Gordon, -, (GB) 1950 sharing a 2-litre Aston Martin with Eric Thompson (GB)

Hi Adam.  I am trying to find out information re the above.  I see from your posting in 2006 that there was an interview with him in Thoroughbred & Classic Cars in August 1984, and that you have a copy.

Would it be possible to send me a scan of the article please?  I would be very grateful.

Regards

Chris
