Our heartfelt condolence to Eoin and Sandra Young on the death of their beautiful and talented daughter Selina and also to Alfie her beloved son.

The funeral was two days ago - a private cermeony followed by a public celebration of Selina's life.

Eoin had asked me if I would read his tribute to his darling daughter. I was honoured to be asked but of course wish that I didn't have to.

Howden Ganley and Nigel Roebuck both told me to keep up the 'deep breaths' and with their advice we got through.

During the tribute, Eoin made regular use of the word'sparkling' with reference to Selina's life, and the way she went about her art and her mothering. She was a lovely girl.

In about 30 minutes I leave for a flight to Teretonga. Eoin arrived 30 mins ago. We'll make sure he has a good weekend.

With the reference to art - and her recent death - is this, then, the same Selina Young known as a book illustrator?
I had no idea there was a connection.
