In the bahrain review of atlas it was mentioned Alonso will explain the gesture later this season... Anyone an idea what it means?

"Oooooo, get her!" is how he wishes to express himself, then who are we to argue with her. Erm, him. Maybe.

Fred was posing, showing his nuscular structure to all drivers.
Is it a mind game.

Right said Fred:
'I'm too sexy for this podium, too sexy for MS, too sexy by far...'

So now Alonso is on the podium making his ... whatever it is .... posture during the playing of the French National Anthem???
Where is the outcry for disrespecting le drapeau tricolore ???

1 of the roles of the deck crew is to release the actual aircraft , which they usually do with their unique flamboyant gesture just before hitting the deck as the wing of the aircraft rockets over their heads, following the ok salute from the pilot
1 of the chiefs said there ws an unwritten rule though that if you couldn't do a "cool" move then you shouldn't do it at all.
can someone lease tell fred that wasn't cool - just kinda weird.

Until then the world needs to get used to a World Champion who's skill behind the wheel is unquestionable, but who has the maturity outside the cockpit of a zygote.
In fact, that might explain the gestures perfectly - he's either just lost his virginity or he reckons he's just fertilised his first egg......

I can see why it looked so 'horrendous' for people who've never watched a bullfight though. but if you have, you can clearly see what he was doing.
He'll probably change it after he sees himself in pictures!

what was tht 'chicken wing hand gesture'? I think I missed that

it's the 'pose' the matador (or the 'banderillero') takes before he makes his banderillas 'run'.
you'd have to watch a bullfight to see what I'm talking about. But it does look rather silly (and a bit dodgy!) when you've never seen that before

good point, i think you are right. Also, he kissed his ring on the podium and after that he pointed to someone in the crowd..

I think it was earlier than that - maybe around the time of one of his first Ferrari wins (first time he would have won & heard the Italian anthem) or maybe when he won the title in 2000.

Possibly why he is called the matador, a pose they would make in the bull ring
Scorg, he never was called the matador, and I hope he never will. If someday they call him that, it will prove that spaniards have a serious lack of imagination and memory. Also, if someday they call him that I will puke. There´s only one "matador", and that is Carlos Sainz. Honestly, I don´t think Alonso can stand the comparison. From the professional point of view not yet. From the personal point of view, never.
