I collect Tamiya kits both 1/12 and 1/20 F1 plus some sports car kits.
I have die casts in just about every scale (brands:Franklin Mint, IXO, Minichamps, Quartzo, Vitesse, Onyx, Action, UT, Southeastern Fine Cast Kits, Maisto, Corgi, Carousel). Classic F1 from the 1960s (especially Jim Clark Lotus) and modern F1 dominate the collection.
I also have driver's helmets in 1/4, 1/2, and full scale (Bieffe replicas).
I have been collecting for almost 20 years and have enough to open a hobby shop or model museum. Fortunately, I don't have a Mrs. to justify this collection.
My favorite is the Carousel Lotus 38 Jim Clark 1965 Indy 500 winner but there are many "close" seconds!!!

Replicarz www.relicarz.com in Rutland, Vermont is great.
They have a great selection, knowledgable staff, and are customer focused!!

My favourite is the Tyrrell Ford P34 Six-wheeler from Exoto
In addition to that I have Alonso's 2005 car and M. Schumacher's 2004 car, both Hotwheels bought from Toronto Motorsports. These cars are "OK" but not up to the standard of the Exotos (then again the price wasn't either).
I've also got Bill Golden's 1964 Dodge Superstock, it's from Highway61 via eBay.
Next purchases will be Tommy Ivo's twin and quad engine dragsters from GMP
As for cars I've owned I'm trying to track down a Somerville model of a green 1950 Ford Prefect

All eye candy but what the hey

If someone ever got a JPS #12 kit, I'd be really happy to have copyes of the front, top and side views on the instructions guide. I've being searching this for months and no luck at all. It's for a 3D rendering project and I will be willing to share all the models/renders or what ever comes out off it with who provides me the plans.

Do you need the Tamiya JPS Lotus 72D or the JPS Lotus 79 (Andretti)?

If it's #12, it could be from 1981-86.;)

It's quite interesting to see them all lined up in chronological order and see how they've evolved.

I have been collecting Minichamps 1:43rd models for approx 10 years and i tried to buy 1 model for each team each year (if my budget allows), and I'd also buy a couple 1:18th each year, usually it's the McLaren.
I have a few Exoto models, they are very nice but they are also very expensive. I've the Renault, Villeneuve Ferrari, Prost Ferrari and the 6 wheel Tyrrell, that's it. I've love to get their Sauber sports car, but have to put that one on hold as I need to save some money.
Hotwheels has grabbed the 1:18 license from Minichamps for a few teams, Ferrari / Williams / Renault, that's a pity as i think the quality of Minichamps is still a few steps above Hotwheels. Just look at Minichamps' latest 1:18th 2005 McLaren, that's a beauty and compare it with the Hotwheels 2005 Renault, it's not too bad, but somehow it still has this toy feel.
I also have some Tamiya models from years ago, in 1:20th and 1:12th scale.
I particularly look forward to the release of this year's chrome livery McLaren, I think this would be the best model for this year. Now without the West sponsorship, we don't need to convert it and it will look great on its own - even my girl loves the look of this car and she will have no objection of me buying this model.
where and how you display your models? can any of you post some pictures of your collections?

Matra F1 (Jackie Stuart / 1968)
Ferrari 312T (Niki Lauda / 1975)
Tyrell P34 (Patrick Depailler /1976)
Wolf WR1 (Jody Schekter / 1976)
Lotus 78 (Mario Andretti / 1977)
Renault RE20 (1980) Not Tamiya - Italian I think
Then they started becoming too expensive!
Also have 1/12 scale 4 1/2 litre 1930 Bentley Blower (Airfix) under construction - my second go at this, the first one got trashed when my kids were young!
Used to have a 1967 STP (Paxton I think) turbine driven car (Indy 500) but that disapeared many years ago!

I build kits in 1/12, 1/20 and 1/24
I dont collect diecasts although I have Mansell's FW14b in 1/20 to go with my built models. They seem to be mainly 1/18 and 1/43.
Tamiya used to make a lot of 1/12 and 1/20 plastic kits but not many are still in production.
A few companies used to make 1/24 kits but just Revell doing it now.
Biggest problem with F1 plastic kits is not many new ones coming out now. Must be down to licensing fees and/or poor sales.
You can get Multimedia kits from Japanese and Brazilian companies but they are expensive.
If anyone wants to know about F1 modelling check out this website:

Also, Tameo 1/43s if u can build 'em...even better than BBR in fidelity and xtra details.
I also have the usual suspects, Exoto and PMA. The Exoto Fw14B Red 5 is nice, except yellow is too dark.
CMC is the best though, the Streamliner W196 and Maser 250F i have are the best.
Finally, Carousel One AAR Eagle is well-done.
Hotwheels/Mattel is pure **** and just toys.
