I don't either, but I tend to mentally tune him out anyway.

grandprix.com had that as a story on the 31st.

Yep, I remember him saying it. I think there are a few threads where people have quoted it.

Got to admit I didnt think of April 1st when he said it.

Interesting that the Grand Prix story was dated 31st. I'm wondering if someone put an April Fool's day press release about and some people fell for it?

Hmmm, "James Allen", "fool", and "joke" all in the same thread title. Seems fitting somehow.;)

Consider the time difference :) If they put out the story on 31st, it might have well been April 1st in Melbourne.

Possibly - but I remember reading the story before qualifying.

Yeah, considering the rough life he has, you know getting to meet all the drivers up close and personal, going to great parties, travelling the world. No one I know would want his job.;)

I'd want his job but not his brain.

I read that ITV thing and yeah it reminded me of the GrandPrix.com story. Is it particularly true? Or maybe James wasn't making a joke and misread the Grandprix.com article and ITV is covering it up :D

Does sound like something Stoddart would do though.;)

I thought that was true? Was it Grandprix.com that reported one of the old A23s that Stoddart bought was painted up in Minardi colors and was on display somewhere in Australia. Then it was shipped back to the UK and made into a current Aguri car, and shipped back for the GP?

Motorsport News are reproting it as fact, although I agree it sounds pretty unlikely.

But then, so does the whole Super Aguri saga - particularly Taku showing Rubens the way around Albert Park. Real Boy's Own comic stuff!

I actually bought that one, too.

Didn't give it too much thought, though...

It certainly is a plausible story, so why not fall for it? It seems James Allen did ... surely noone believes he came up with that one independently and on his own ;)

Exactly. Something to do with a million, billion sperm, and him (or part of him!) being the quickest. Survival of the twattest?

The funny thing is, instead of admiting he was had, he then makes a total blunder by trying to make it seem as if he was the smart and funny guy. I would enjoy nothing more if the story was actually shown to be true in the end ;).

I would enjoy nothing more than hearing he had been involved in some kind of hideous accident, possibly involving some kind of agricultural machinery.

Oh right I thought that comment about the show car in the airport was about Paul Stoddard owning the car that the Aguri's have previously and using it to promote Minardi and Oz Jet. It could well have been sat on show at Melbourne airport last year painted in Minardi livery.

Yeah, it's definitely very plausible, plus this "April Fools" joke wasn't post on April the 1st.

It's really not that unreal that Stoddart would sell SA two Arrow cars, but didn't know where they were. I think the thing that got James was that they were painted in Minardi livery and so he thought they WERE Minardi's. :D

The guys on Speed in the US were also saying much the same thing that the car was on show at the airport. Of course they may well have been just repeating what they heard James Allen say.

There I was hoping that he was going to say that him being such an insufferable twazzock over the last 4 years was merely an act... BUGGER.

From http://www.autosport...rt.php/id/51140

Super Aguri started the season with a developed version of four-year-old Arrows cars bought from former Minardi owner and Australian aviation entrepreneur Paul Stoddart.

One of them was painted in Minardi colours and on display at Melbourne airport as a show car while another chassis has just been obtained from an owner in the Netherlands.

Hmm, interesting. Was this an April fool joke that got out of hand, or did James Allen say something, try to cover it up when he thought he was wrong as a humerous April fool, then prove to be right all the long...
