some of you may recall my posts looking for help/info on the dunboyne road racing circuit.
well i pressed ahead and made a site .its at http://dunboyneroadracing.atspace.com/ for anyone thats intrested.it has created quite a lot of intrest in the locality and there is a comittee being formed to oversee the 40th anniversary of the last major races held there.it would still be good if anyone here has any info/pics/stories about the place that they care to share  .
there is a link to the atlas forums on the links page there too.

Good on you, Chopper. Be lovely when it's finished (although a website, like a car restoration, is never quite finished.)

A really interesting site.

Do you know any more about Tony David who was killed in the 1965 race. All I know is that his full name was Anthony Nicholas David, that he was born in Cardiganshire in 1937 and that he lived in Mumbles, Swansea at the time of his death. Would be pleased to know if your researches turn anything up.

Interesting site.I remember planning to go in 1966 but had to be cancelled due to a seamans strike.Suggest this could be expanded to cover all Irish road racing history?

Great site - very well done

I drove the circuit in 1978 - ten years after the racing stopped - and was on the edge of my seat!

(Wish I could have seen racing there!)

Had a look at the new site - looks like it is going to be good. I attended most of the races a a young lad and sometimes on a early quite Sunday morning have a little drive around the old circuit - still scares me to think of the guys racing at full tilt on the very narrow tarmac!

Good luck to Chopper on this worthwhile project

I like the idea of some sort of commemoration at Dunboyne. I was there in 1965 and 1966 and watched the race from the privileged view of the timekeepers box. 1965 was memorable because of Chris Summers in the Lotus 24 Chevrolet and 1966 for Peter Clarke in his 250LM Ferrari and the brief appearance of John Scott Davies in the Lotus 30......happy days.
I look forward to bringing the Lotus 18 FJ down from Belfast to join in whatever materialises.
Good luck with your plans

soory for the late coming replys on this , its been hectic .
@kjj, yes i have uncovered a small amount of information on tony david ,a few pics too if you want them .

the site has found its final home , its at http://dunboyneroadracing.ie now .

there are quite a few photos ,programs and results along with a good bit of information now .theres a lot more in the pipeline too its just a matter of me getting time to load / type it all .

a club has been formed after a very well attended meeting in bradys of dunboyne on 29th april last,
the club is called the dunboyne motor club and its main objectives are to revive the memories and to plan ahead for events to commerate the old racing there.
its hoped there will be a static event held there in the coming september .
its late notice but theres a meeting on in bradys again this tuesday 30th may and anyone with an intrest is welcome .

im learning a heck of a lot about old motorsport than i thought i would :D

just another little update on this .i hope this is not seen as spaming or bouncing the thread up.

An event is in the planning for october 1st this year .it will be held in the old paddock area in dunboyne .its hoped that we can get enough support to have a decent few of the car's and bike's that raced in dunboyne and racing vehicle's of the era ,along with anything else connected to the race's ,to fill the paddock area (field beside church ).we also hope to have a display of vintage vehicles of all age's displayed in the church ground's.there will be irish dancing on the green too and we hope to attract a few stall's/vendors .its still early days on this (although time will be tight ) so there may be changes to these plans.
we are planning to do a few laps around the circuit too but unfortunatly not racing as it would be too big a step for the moment.
this will most likely be the last year that the laps can be done as the road will be changed /blocked at bennetstown from next year on.
its planned to have a plaque errected to honour the 4 drivers who lost their live's while competing in dunboyne too .it will be situated on kellys corner .

Wow! What a fantastic day – well done to all concerned! It recalled back so many great memories – sounds and smells! The marshals were brilliant and most helpful. I sneakily followed the cars back from the “sheaf of wheat” in my little red Suzuki sports car – the atmosphere approaching the town was electric – just like a race day. Thanks to the Gardai and all the helpers. Even the weather was with you guys.

What a great afternoon at Dunboyne yesterday. The organisers and the Garda should indeed be congratulated for putting such a fine event together at such short notice. I was present at the last two events as an 10/11 year old and so many memories came flooding back. The Lotus is seen in the paddock where it was well received. To drive around the circuit just behind the Garda vehicles and motor cyclists was just fantastic. I have nothing now but the greatest admiration for the likes of Tommy Reid, John Pringle and Chris Summers etc. Hope that plans go ahead for another event, can't wait.

Choppers site doesn't seem to have been updated since before the 2006 event to celebrate 40 years. Does anyone know if it's been moved elsewhere ?

I'm off to Ireland next month and hope to visit Dunboyne and the remains of The Curragh plus the current Walderstown track as used by the bike boys so will try to take some pictures to post.
