Autosport.com should create a public Google Calendar with dates & times in GMT along with relevant links to circuit info, maps, news items so that anyone who uses Google Calendar can add the Autosport.com calendar to theirs and get reminders of each session and other such important info at a glance.

I know the same info is available here, but this would help people using Google Calendar plan their lives around F1, I know I'm not the only one who does that. :)

There's also an API for it if needed.

A lot of that info would be subscriber-only info though, so that might not work.

I'd prefer that they do the MyAtlas overhaul that they had planned (I know it's at the bottom of the list  ) which would no doubt give us those kind of features, but from an Atlasport point of view and not from outside in.

Subscriber only articles and stuff, all the cal needs to have are the dates & times of every session (practice, qualy, race) and links to the subscriber only stuff. It would be semi-useful for non-subscribers, but plenty useful for subscribers.

We've only just started toying around with Google Calendar a few days ago.

There is an F1 calendar that Eli has made (and is public), which we will to continue to update with events and anniversaries. Right now it's got all GPs, some testing dates, and some significant upcoming events.

You can try it out by copying it's iCAL address: http://www.google.co...om/public/basic

But bear in mind this is at the very initial stages, so don't expect much (which is why we haven't publicised its existent yet).

There is also a non-F1 motorsport calendar, and its iCAL address is http://www.google.co...om/public/basic

You are welcome to make suggestions here on how this can be improved. For the time being, we consider this an experiment.

Fantastic! The only suggestion I have is that instead of marking it as an all day event for the GP weekend days, it be broken down into the exact times for each session. So that way one can setup personal reminders, etc. Testing etc can be all day events if it's too much of a hassle to list exact times.

Practice 1 Fri 11:00-12:00
Practice 2 Fri 14:00-15:00

Practice 3 Sat 11:00-12:00
Qualifying Sat 14:00-15:00

The Race Sun 14:00-16:00

Is much more helpful than All day Friday, Saturday & Sunday on the calendar.

Well I can't see a way of automating additions to the calendar via rss or something. Maybe we need to study this more, but at the moment events and additions need to be done manually and, to be perfectly honest, none of us really have the time to spare.

Maybe if someone volunteered to help maintain this calendar, we could turn it into a more details tool than it is.

Google Calendar Data API can be used to add events automatically. I am guessing you already have the times for each session somewhere, so just exporting that via the API to Google should make it quite automated.

Sorry, I really cannot afford any of my or my guys' time for this kind of development, or even just reading the API manual.

All right thanks.

I'll make a new public calendar that has the session start and end times if it isn't already out there and make it public. And if there is one already out there, I'll just mention the link here and then every can add it to theirs.

Edited to add:

Here's one public calendar with every session properly entered: F1 2006 (XML Calendar Feed)
