It has been said (and can be seen) that Ralf and Michael Schumacher, occasionally Mika Hakkinen and presumably some of the other drivers, tilt their heads to force air into the air box. Can the crash helmet of an F1 driver not be shaped to perform this function? was this the idea of M.Schumacher's helmet of '98-'99 with the flat back and wings. Has someone a picture of this??

Motorcyclists sometimes have 'mohican' ridges (to reduce buffeting?) so can F1 drivers not have similar??

What about other mods?

Whilst I am at it, has anyone got the old BBC 1 F1 music, or anywhere I can download it (from the start of their coverage before they lost it to to ITV)??

The 1998 Autocourse book has a picture of MS getting out of his car at Australia... he's bending his head and the picture gives a good view of the back of the helmet. it looks weird.

For the BBC theme, go to

that's the second time this week i've referenced that web page on here. the guy who runs it should send me a paycheck.

by the way, mr. moog, i believe i met your father once. he made the best synthesizers ever.

Cheers for the link, yes Moog Snr was renowned as a bit of whizz with the transisitors and capacitors

I have no idea hoe to link to web pages or I would show you what I mean by Motorcycle helmets. Suffice to say there are a lot with little fins and odd shapes.
