In another forum I was told that the book "Rivals: Aston Martin DBR1 - Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa" by Chris Nixon's might be the key to a mystery I am trying to solve. Unfortunately, I do not have access to a copy of the book.

I am trying to find out some information on the color of the Ferrari 250TR (chassis 0722) that competed as car #40, driven by Rodger Ward at the 1960 Havana GP. The car was originally yellow/black in 1958 and went through several different owners and color changes prior to the Havana event. It was entered there as part of the Camoradi effort, and the only black and white photo that I have been able to find in Tom Burnside's book "American Racing" makes it difficult to determine if the car was back to yellow w/black stripes or was in the Camoradi white with blue stripes.

I have corresponded with Tony Wang, the current owner of the car, but he says that when the car was restored they did not find any evidence of white or yellow.

If anyone has a copy of the book, could you see if there is a photo that can answer my question? Thanks.

It's actually called 'Sports Car Heaven', not 'Rivals'. Rivals is 1955 - Mercedes v. Lancia.

The book only covers Sports Car championship events. Nothing about races elsewhere.

I suggest you contact someone who has 'Time and Two Seats'.

I am 99% certain that this book does not exist. Chris Nixon's book titled "Rivals" refers specifically to the Lancia D50 & Mercedes Benz W196 GP cars. I think the book you have been told about is "Sports Car Heaven" which covers the mid to late 50's era.

Without exception ALL his books are fantastic

Here's a photo, b + w again, from Finn's Testa Rossa book...I would bet on the Camoradi white and blue...

Guys,
Life is filled with misunderstandings. The great late Chris Nixon wrote a book called 'Rivals' which covered the duels between the AM DBR1 and the Ferrari 250 TR. The book was a published by wealthy Ferrari collector Brandon Wang and only 100 hugely expensive books were produced. Wangs intention was to direct possible profits from the project to charity, but I'm not sure what happened there. Some time later, the basically same book was offered as 'Sports Car Heaven' to a broader audience. Another book by Nixon was of course the Lancia D50 vs Mercedes W196 story called 'Rivals'.
