I just purchased a AutoArt 1/18th model of a 917K and would like to know when and where it was raced. It is a normal 917K( ie without the twin fins at the back like the ’71 LeMans winner) done in a free flowing yellow and red paint design (looks something like the "hippie" car but not as drastic). It is a Martini Racing Team car with the number 2 driven by Siffert and Ahrens. Does anyone know when and where it raced like this?

917K Where and When?

Are you sure Siffert raced any other 917, apart from the John Wyer cars...?

This model is clearly marked with Siffert' s name and Martini Racing Team . It's paint design is totally unlike the JW cars.

Yes, he won at Zeltweg with Ahrens in 1969 / official Porsche car and first win for the 917.
I guess the yellow/red 917 is the AAW car driven mostly by Gijs van Lennep in 1970 (World Championship of Makes and Interserie).

Tmeranda , Check out this page....
http://962.com/regis...7-021/index.htm
if you click on "chassis registery" in the site's title banner you can access an impressive database of each 917 built...
( I did only say "impressive", I'm not qualified to say if it's 100% accurate....but it looks like a serious effort )

Okay, you're absolutely correct, Luc. But what colour is the model you have, Tmeranda?
I've just had a look at the results and Siffert finished first, third, fifth and sixth !!!
(in various cars, obviously)...

....oh and I forgot......At first I thought the "Siffert-Ahrens" thing was a mistake or a joke joke by the model maker, so I was amazed to read on the 962.com site that this car did indeed race with those drivers at the 1970 Kyalami 9 hours....
edit : sorry Luc ! we posted at the same time !

nice collection of Porsche you have! The 2 car is nice, but not near as nice as the other Auto Art 917's. Their '71 Long tail is beautiful.
BTW have you noticed how "big" the Exot0 917-30 looks next to your other 917's. It's huge. I wonder if the scale is correct.

'Seppi' also drove the Porsche 917PA Can-Am car for Porsche Audi in 1969, Mark, but I'm sure you will remember that.
