At Indy I purchased a 1st place trophy for this race weekend. The inscription on the trophy is...
Main Event
Over 1500 CC
D MOD
R. Ginther
So far I've been unable to find any results for this race and which car Richie was driving.
I just started my research, but I've looked through the following websites without success...
http://www.tamsoldra...tRanchHome.html
http://home.san.rr.c...ff/covpr856.htm
I also just purchased online the "Paramount Ranch Remembered" book by Art Evans. However, it won't be in for weeks.
Initially I'm just trying to find the results of the race this trophy was won and which car Richie was driving.
Pictures of the trophy are here: http://www.ferrarich...ad.php?t=116048
Thank you,
rob

Seems as if one must register to see the photos.
Seems as if Ginther was driving an Aston Martin.
More Tom Cardin photos
I haven't found the results list, yet, but Art Evans' book says Jerry Austin was first OA in a D-Type, Chuck Daigh second OA in the Troutman-Barnes Special, and Ginther third OA, first in Dmod, in the Aston Martin.
Some Paramount Ranch stuff here, and here

Ginther actually finished third overall on Sunday, March 10, 1957. He was indeed first in class, D modified. The overall winner was Jerry Austin in a D Jag, second was Chuck Daigh in the Troutman-Barnes Special.

Hi, Rob,
You mentioned elsewhere that this was an SCCA race. The five-armed insignia on the trophy is that of the California Sports Car Club (the Cal Club); not then a part of SCCA.
The whole story is too long to tell here, but the Cal Club and SCCA saw amateur sports car racing in very different ways, and there was a long and interesting (and usually bitter) disagreement. Eventually it was resolved with the Cal Club becoming the Cal Club Region of SCCA. I have no idea if that name still exists, or if in common with so much else that name has vanished into history.

The California Sports Car Club insignia was designed by
Johnny von Neumann with an "iron cross" as a model:
